It seems to me that Soaring Eagle has a mentality similar to the big Strip
operators. They can get away with charging $200+ for rooms and offering
(mostly) crappy games, yet they still fill the joint with the uneducated. In this
case, they have no competition within a reasonable distance, so they have no
motivation to offer a competitive gambling product.

It's absolutely amazing to review the poor vp paytables at the Soaring
Eagle Casino in Mi when you consider that the amount of tax they pay to
the State of Michigan is only 2% of net wins. Conversely the Detroit
based (privately operated) casinos must pay 24% of net wins in taxes
plus sizeable fees. Personally I wouldn't play at wooden nickel at the
soaring eagle or other tribal casinos until they at least provide
reasonable vp paytables.
