MIA - Binion's Full-pay Deuces

Went to Binion's to play the full-pay quarter deuces and have one of their
excellent cheeseburgers. The 4 machines with various full-pay games that are
all set to return lower points were out of service.

After a double-cheeseburger with fried onions, bacon, fries, and a septuple
coronary bypass at the snack bar, I checked the machines out again.

The Deuces were that 9-15 shortpay NSUD paytable. There happened to be a
shift manager standing nearby signing up some paperwork for a jackpot and I
buttonholed her and gave her a talking to.

The various points I made were:

- now there is no reason for me and Mrs. Flusher to play in Binions, with
the 6:5 blackjack and shorted Deuces (didn't mention the full pay DDB).
- we players notice these things - they make a difference
- on quarters, its not like they are going to get hurt anyway, and the
points are shorted

She seemed to be interested in my opinion and said she would pass it on to
the manager.

It felt good to be able to voice these things right when the changes were
being made.

I am very certain that Binion's management will give my opinion every bit as
much consideration as they give the opinions of all their values quarter
players.

The weird thing here is, 4Q's owns the property and they have full pay pay machines all over the casino--including some of the games they shortened on these four. I sure hope this isn't a foreshadowing of what is to come at the 4Q's.

It's really too bad, I thought those were some of the most comfortable machines for long term play. The rare 100% JOB and enhanced Bonus paytables were really nice.

I doubt it...each property has their own slot director. The one at the Four Queens has a much better understanding of Video Poker, what games to offer and, just as important, what games not to offer.

The Binions director doesn't have a clue and is paranoid about "advantage players and teams". My understanding is that the play on the four machines that were downgraded was not substantial and given the fact that these were $.25 games with reduced cash back, there was no material dollar loss for the casino.

Quite surprising that there is such a dichotomy, given the common ownership. Looking at the crowds of players at the 4Q and the lack thereof at Binions, one would think that the owner would have stepped in by now and mandated a change in the slot management philosophy (or a change in the personnel) at Binions.

That made me laugh. I got the sarcasm and enjoy incongruities.
