Mesquite and other good Opportunites

First a question: I heard that some heavy hitters went to get their scratch cards in Mesquite (worth $8 each in cashback) and management retroactively cancelled the promo. Did they have to go to gaming to get the scratch cards?

Second, regarding not mentioning Mesquite or the LV Hilton on these forums. No player in his right mind, pro or otherwise, is stupid enough to give up info about a 1.5%+ opportunity on a public board. Why? Casinos and casino consultants read this board and would likely call the casino and tell them they're about to get crushed. Likewise, there are some heavy hitters that you just do not want to know about the game because they can put together teams with endless bankrolls to lock up the machines 24hrs a day. Some things are better left unsaid.

Regarding the LVH's former generous comp rate and why no one mentioned it...this was in effect for years. Back to when they had 0.55% cashback as their standard, generous mailers, easy C2 RFB, and easier airfare reimbursements. The theo on the VP games (3x $1 , Pick Em's, and 10x 50cent Jacks) were the same as the slot machines so you got very generous discretionary comps from the hosts ontop of all previously mentioned. This goes back eons...and was very common knowledge. . Back when it was even better when they had full pay $5 Jacks and I remember multi-line 8/5 Super Aces all with the same generous comp rate. Shame on you for not could have logging onto VPHomepage and finding casino by casino comments...it was all there for the asking. LV Hilton was, for years, one of the best comp plays in Vegas.

I just happened to be there the first day of the promotion.

On the Satrurday before the promotion started (it started that Monday
at 12:01am), I was playing at the Casablanca, took a break and walked
over to the Oasis to see what the $1 NSUD prograssive was at. That
was when I saw a huge banner advertising 2x points Monday thru
Thursday 6am to 6pm and the scratch card promo.

Went to the booth and got the details...figured most of the scratch
cards would be $5 (they ranged from $5 to $50) and it would add
around .7 to the EV. OK ...not bad...but the play at the Casablanca
was stronger. Figured that I'd play there Saturday and Sunday...but
go over to the Oasis Monday morning and see how high the progressive
was.

Monday morning around 8am, I see one "heavy hitter" with probably 500
or more scratch cards...I wander around a little (the progressive was
at reset), play the NSUD 100 play to generate some cards quickly, go
back to the booth and see 3 more "heavy hitters" with TONS of cards.
I decide that trying to get the four cards I earned was not a good
idea at that particular time. I went back later around 1pm, got $25
for my four cards. I tried to get some info from the boothings about
the "heavy hitters" but they were not very talkative.

I found out later that they were playing video BJ at the $10 level,
betting 10 units per hand...$100 per hand. Started playing early in
the morning. Lets see, I think (not certain) that the video BJ
returned around 99.8%...add the .7 from the promo and you're at
100.5%. Estimate around 500 hands per hour at $100 at .5% equals
$250/hr!

I applaud these "heavy hitters" for their network of information
gathering and for their analytical skills to maximize their return in
a given situation.

I later heard (not confirmed) that a number of them were barred but
that they were payed off for the scratch cards. Again this was not
confirmed as I am not sure of the reliability of the source of this
information.

I can confirm that the promotion was not cancelled and the value of
the scratch cards I received (over 100 cards) was $8.35 each. If
the "heavy hitters" got the same 1.1% on their scratch cards...then
you are looking at a $450 per hour play!

Those were the days. I never stayed LVH during those times but I used
to take my rent a ride down there just to check out the $1 prog. If
not playable I would spend a few hours playing the two quarter Loose
Deuces at sports book. I enjoyed playing the Deuces most of all. The
rest of the group I traveled with didn't want any part of playing
there. I enjoyed the time away from the rest of the troop. I'd cruse
up and park in sports book parking. Usually I was 50 yards away from
the machines I liked to play. What could be better? By the way, a few
hours play generated some nice offers. I made it a point to use
comps. I could get wife and others into LVH for dinner & shows. CB
was good too. There used to be a lot of good plays around. Not so
good now.

This game is used quite often for certain promotions where getting points fast is important.
