Meet your new moderator Harry Porter....

Why should we horde all the fun of Harry's insight on vpFree, perhaps
you too, on FreeVpFree will enjoy Harry's rants!

Here's my take on this: Anytime a non-vp related topic attracts a
dozen posts, it's a discussion that is much more appropriate for a
separate vpFREE discussion group that could beter foster and

encourage

the thread.

An effective off-topic group could also provide a forum where other
valuable information, peripheral to vp but of considerable interest

to

members, might be exchanged without feeling that discussion has
strayed from vpFREE's stated focus.

By comparison, pretty much any topic that is shunted to FREEvpFREE
withers on the vine (witness the attempt to take the printer
discussion there Wednesday). There is every reason to believe that
this reflects an aversion to the high volume, interpersonal diatribe
that has engulphed that forum.

We're an intelligent group and possess valuable non-vp knowledge,
experience and insights which merit sharing. vpFREE isn't an
effective forum in which to freely share that information nor, in

its

present incarnation, is FREEvpFREE (which I expect 98% of members
don't even occasionally skim).

I suggest an off-topic forum that is free from self-indulgent
exchanges between a few select indiviudals of the type that have
dominated FvpF this year. On the other hand, if other frequent

participants are satisfied with the status quo, then there's nothing
that need be "fixed".

Bev (my wife) should be so fortunate that my rants were anywhere quite
so meek ...
