If you are flying out of Las Vegas's McCarren airport, be aware that lately
there have been some long waits to get through security. Apparently Monday is
the worst day. If there are major conventions in town there can be waits of
2-3 hours to get through security. At other times the line may only be 10
minutes long. A major backup happened after the Consumer Electronics show in
Jan., and it happened again this week, with lines reported as long as a 3-hour
wait for security alone.
If flying out of McCarren on a Monday, be aware of the possibility for delay,
and either arrive 3 1/2 hrs or more in advance, or contact the airline to try
to determine if there is a longer-than-normal gate delay.
