here's a question i haven't seen before - even though it's going to
kill me, i am forced to layover at mccarran airport for 2 hours.
that really isn't enough time to get a cab and go play nearby - i
have never gone near, touched or otherwise played a vp machine at
the airport. anybody have any experience w/this? i don't know if i
can make it through the 2 hours!!!!! thanks

A cab ride from the airport to the Hard Rock take's about 5 minutes and cost's about $6. Its better than playing the crap in the airport, and you'll probably make up the difference with less in gambling losses.

Maccarran airport used to be great when they had $1 Buccaneers Gold
machines, you could find 3 daggers on these and not many hustlers
waiting around for them.

McCarren was fun. After the MGM I would make a late night run
to "cleanup" the JOB playoffs. Did pretty well though I never knew
whether I would have to go out to the meter if the machines was being
stubborn, lol. Of course plenty of times I went all the way there and
back for nothing. (The airport that is). Just imagine if they would
have still had the Odysees after 9-11. Would have been interesting
trying to get past the security, eh? You know the word is that IGT,
after absorbing Silicon Gamings mess, gave $1,000 credit for trade
ins. Wish I could have bought one... just for posterity.

How about simply changing the rules that are constraining you. If it
was me, I call the airline and see if there's was a later flight so
you can have some real time in town. It seems so unfair to dangle LV
under your nose like that.
