MB Question.

Thanks for all the replies. I suspected I was not going to find some
special tips on machines, like full pay deuces hidden on a 50 play
machine, but no harm in asking, just in case.

The suggestion to do some gambling at Luxor might work. I read all
the properties of the same Mandalay Resort companies share their
comps, unlike the case with Park Place or MGM-Mirage. Luxor has slant
top 9/6 Jacks or Better. I will definitely also explore 7/5 BP
machines at MB. Just trying them for a short while won't hurt even if
the return is low. Yes, the restaurants, bars and pool are
attractive. As far as the rooms being sound proof, I have had bad
experiences everywhere. At a Caesars Palace Tower room if you have a
party next door, forget about sleeping. Bellagio tends to be quiet,
but if you get a room there way north and Caesars has a loud pool
party, forget about sleeping also, even if you use the cotton in your
ears from the vanity kit. I suppose architects in Las Vegas never
consider the possibility of people trying to sleep. Maybe the Four
Seasons is good for sleeping, but Mandalay Bay is cheaper, LOL.
Thanks again.

Comps earned at one MGM-Mirage property can readily be used at another
one (with the exception of NYNY, which hasn't joined the Players Club,
but is slated to do so this fall -- an event that's already been put
off a couple of times). Just inquire at the Players Club desk. Note,
they won't tell you what you exactly have available in your account
after play ... you tell them what restaurant and for how many and they
tell you if ok, or not.

Park Place basic comps can't be used cross property, however, you now
earn credit to a supplemental comp account with play as well.
Reported accrual rates vary. Guests at LV Hilton tend to report .25%,
at least one guest at Caesars reported .55% (related to respective cb
rates?). Non-guests may earn more. A local player reports a rate of
something like .8% at LVH.

While comps can be used cross property through the Mandalay One Card,
I expect it's unlikely that you might play at the Luxor and earn a
room comp and Mandalay Bay. But I suppose I shouldn't rule it out
without specific knowledge.

Hello,

I wanted to make sure about this before I started to seriously think
about making plans, so I called the number in the Mandalay Bay slot
card and inquired about just this matter. The lady at the other end
assured me that they do not look where the points in the card have
been made. She said if my luck was good, say, at Luxor, I could just
play there and then get the room comped at Mandalay Bay. She also
said I could play at any or several of the properties, Luxor,
Excalibur, Monte Carlo and Circus Circus, and collect the comps at
just one. I think this is wonderful as some of the other properties
have much better paytables. Of course, if one stays at Mandalay Bay,
one will tend not to want to leave to go to a less, let us say,
attractive property. But, hey!, why not rough it for a few hours a
day for a free room? LOL.

So now my search now is wider. I pose this question to you and
whomever would want to do me the favor of answering. Where are the
best Video Poker machines among Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur and
Monte Carlo. Yes, why not?, let's add Circus Circus. What are they?
Any full pay deuces?
Thanks a million in advance for your possible replies.

Check the vpfree database for specifics, but Circus-Circus and Slots of fun are the best of the bunch.

I'm afraid you are right. Thanks for the reply, even if it reveals
another Las Vegas irony.

A visitor wants to stay at Mandalay Bay because it is one of the
nicest places in Vegas. The visitor, of course, wants to get comped
stuff for his play, if possible. What is the soundest advise? Do most
of the gambling at Circus Circus and Slots A Fun, LOL. It is sound
advise but it defeats the purpose. Maybe the best trade off if one
wants to enjoy Mandalay Bay are those full pay dollar Jacks or Better
machines at Luxor. Hope they last.

Why doesn't the Stip offer better machines? They do make tons of
money even on the best VP machines. I have seen tourists at the Palms
holding an ace and a deuce, and this was not in double bonus deuces.
Oh well.

The One Card is not uniform in cashback across all properties. Down
in Laughlin it is .25% CB.

The One Card seems to be variable in adding to the comp account based
upon the machine played. My play on the better Laughlin games only
generated about .1% comps on my One Card account.

OBTW, Colorado Belle is doing double points (Mon-Fri) in September on
all VP machines.

What about the edgewater VP cash back is it still .25% for FPDW?

I believe in most properties in Las Vegas the cashback is .33%, at
least I understand that is the cashback at MB, Luxor and Excalibur.
Now, the comps can be confusing, it seems they are different. Let me
repeat -at least I believe I wrote this, but don't trust my
Alzheimer's- the lady at the club number at Mandalay Bay told me that
when they look at comps on the TV screen, they don't see which
property they came from and they are valid everywhere. Now, if a
different comp percentage is granted at a different property, this
will be reflected in your comped points. It is important for a player
to know, say, where his dollar-hours of VP will generate more
buffets.

We need a real expert on MB properties. Maybe we could start with the
Strip, but I know one is bound to get curious about properties
everywhere.

A simple question. Can I get a free Saturday night room at Mandalay
Bay if I play a quarter VP machine at either Luxor or Excalibur for
five hours? (???).

Let's meditate, let's have a drink, let's keep calm. You know? Maybe
things are not as bad as they seem.

If there were any recherche' vp at any of those properties, Id
agree. However, since there isnt, I say we reconnoiter MBRG
properties in Laughlin.

What I refer to as basic comps (RFB benefits) generally are restricted
within a property (although on an exception basis a host can arrange a
cross property comp).

Sorry for any confusion.

right to get cross property comps you need to get the host(ess)
involved. If your big enough this shouldnt be that much of a problem.

Has anyone confirmed that cross property play will qualify a room
comp? I understand that food and beverage comp credits can be used at
any property, but I have a strong feeling that they want comped rooms
at MB to be occupied by players at MB, not CC/SAF.

Of course, my intuition has been off just recently concerning MB, when
I expressed skepticism that $12K play would get you a room. I guess
that was confirmed a couple of years ago when they still had
"playable" $1 vp, so I guess it's safe to assume that it is now.

The vp is now, of course, sufficiently poor that it's cheaper to pay
up for the room and hope that a suite upgrade is available at check-in
for an additional $25/night (and the one we received in March was
worth EVERY penny).

And it would seem that it is again ... thanks "E" for your report.
(Can you tell that I'm reviewing messages from this weekend in reverse
sequence?)

I find the report absolutely astounding. So I wonder, if you stay at
MB and do all your play at Luxor, where would subsequent room offers
come from?

- Harry (hoping I end up returning to LV soon to take advantage of
this fluke!)

I'm still disoriented in spite of my conversation with the MB lady.
If they do as other companies do, I suspect the room offers will come
later, if you give them enough play, not only from Luxor and MB, but
also from Excalibur and Circus Circus.

I do have a question that has to do with something else. Can one
really use the Mandalay Bay card on Monte Carlo? I seem to remember a
Monte Carlo card with top hat and gloves. I also seem to remember
that Steve Wynn was part owner of Monte Carlo, but that property is
not listed on the MGM Mirage card. My worry is that I stay at
Mandalay Bay -and Harry, you certainly advertise their rooms well-
then play a lot of those machines I find to be fun, the five jokers
poker at Monte Carlo, and get no comps. By the way, the lady at the
other end of the phone who explained about comps at MB did list Monte
Carlo as one of the properties, but it would be nice to get a
confirmation from someone here, the consumer.

To let you know how confused I am about all this, when she was
listing properties I mentioned NYNY, and she said no. I do seem to
remember six years ago when that open to have read it was partly
owned by MGM and Circus Circus, but obviously I was misinformed, I
misremember, or some change of ownership took place. In any case,
NYNY is indeed listed on the MGM Mirage card.

I don't know why I insist on this thread. Maybe for educational
purposes. It might be simpler in the planning and more profitable in
the VP gambling just to stay at Palms. The noisy partigoers at the
Ghostbar will probably be the same ones that took a limo at
Rumjungle. LOL.

Other companies send out comp offers only for the specific properties
you play at.

For example, I receive RFB offers from LVH, C, B/P ... but none from
Flamingo, where I don't play. I receive similar offers from MGM & B,
but not M, TI, or GN.

Therefore, the source of a subsequent comp offer would be definitely
in question. My guess is that it would be from the property where the
bulk of play occurred. (I'm probably going three for three here.)

I do have a question that has to do with something else. Can one
really use the Mandalay Bay card on Monte Carlo?

Monte Carlo is a member of One Club, the Mandalay Group slot program.

To let you know how confused I am about all this, when she was
listing properties I mentioned NYNY, and she said no.

It's now fully owned by MGM-Mirage.

In any case NYNY is indeed listed on the MGM Mirage card.

NYNY is a MGM-Mirage property, however it's not slated to come online
into their Players Club until later this fall. Currently they operate
on their own unique card and players are not yet eligible for cross
property comp benefits.

I don't know why I insist on this thread. Maybe for educational

The difference is that at Palms they'll simply go ahead and make out
on the floor.

- H.

Thanks for all the replies, they certainly have cleared a lot of
doubts about the MB Properties.

I'm still puzzled about partigoers making out on the floor at Palms,
but it is Vegas, so I'll believe that goes on unless I'm proven
differently, LOL.

There is yet another question and this will show why I'm so intrigued
by Mandalay Bay. I used to visit their casino, but haven't in a long
time which is probably the reason I have this curiosity, might be the
case of the grass being greener elsewhere. The question is this. My
Mandalay Bay slot card is sort of white and light bluish, with black
letters, and it says Club Mandalay. On the back they talk about Club
Mandalay. Nowhere on the card does it say One Club. Yet, I went to
the Mandalay Bay Internet site, put my name and number and got a
message to the effect that there has been no action on that account.
I'm not surprised as I have not visited any MB Properties in a very
long time. I am encouraged by the fact the account was not declared
non-existent. Sorry for the long explanation. My question is very
simple, anyone who has played at MB in the last month or so can
answer it. Do they have a slot card that says One Club now? Or do
they have the same Club Mandalay slot card that they did -when did I
get this one?- in 2000 or 2001? Of course, on my next stop at MB I
will definitely visit the slot club and find out, unless I end up not
staying there, and I feel a waste of time to make the long line at
the Slot Club, should there be one. Thanks.

E

MB now has one slot card for all of their properties so get a new one
when you get to Vegas

Yes, they now use the combined One Club card. Your account
information, including number, transfers unchanged to the new program.
Stop by the card desk and they'll give you a new card to use. Rack
up a nominal number of points and they'll also give you a nify One
Club key chain. (It's a bit finer than the one they hand out at the
