So that you know where I'm coming from, I'll state this up front:
I DON'T LIKE TRIP AVERAGE SYSTEMS
With one of the major chains in northern NV, I played the game up front by
coming in & staying the 2/3 nights depending on the invitations. This was a
system which had a 6-trip average. Two of the trips were in support hosts other
than my own. Due to poor weather, I didn't arrive on time & could not get in
enough play to maintain my normal daily average. Those 2 trips were 20% less than
my usual. The result was a lowering of my tier & benefits.
I'm not naming the chain because this is a problem with all of the
trip-average systems.
Anyway, what should be done when you realize you don't have enough time to
reach your daily average without a lot of risk is to cut your stay to one day &
play your normal average during that day. As for the other days, stay at a
non-trip-average property or pay for a stay some where else.
If you want to maximize trip average & minimize risk, then restrict all stays
to one day.
For example, using the 6-trip-average system, you need to maintain an average
of 30K/day. Compare:
6-Trip Average System
1 day 2 days 3 days
Action 180K 360K 540K
As far as the computer is concerned the trip average is the same in all 3
cases. In general, most casinos with trip-average systems don't have the best
games, your risk is normally higher. So what number do you want to put at risk?
180K, 360K, or 540K?
Naturally, I'm very bitter about what happened to me as I have been a
long-time customer & provided them a high level of play from day one so I thought
they would cut me some slack. However, when things change, you need to adjust.
It's ironic, this chain is going to get roughly 1/3 of my past action & other
casinos will get the other 2/3. Yet I'll get the invitations, bouncebacks,
etc. that I had before. But now I'm established at 3 other properties that had
seen little of me before.
(Maybe I should be thankful instead of bitter. For years, I was blindly loyal
to one casino. But this same casino has helped me to expand my horizons.)
