Match play coupons at Palms

Had $10 match play at Palms. I got there and bet $10 on pass line with
the coupon and then bet $15 on the dont pass as a hedge. "NO NO, STOP,
STOP, YOU CANT DO THAT!!". Say what? "you cannot bet both sides". Why
not? It doesnt say I cant make any other bet on the coupon. Can I bet
hard 8 or the big 6-8? "oh yes, you can bet those, but you cannot bet
pass and dont pass at same time?" But you make an extra 1.4% on my $15
dont bet (21 cents). You still win my $10 pass bet and pusn on my $15
dont bet if a 12 comes out. That is the cost of my insurance. "HMM, I
DIDNT THINK OF IT THAT WAY, OK I WILL LET IT SLIDE THIS ONE TIME".
Good grief, the palms is sweating $4.79 worth of EV on the craps
table. Do they even have a gambling license? TomSki

Why reduce your EV just to lower the variance? That's like playing 8/5
Bonus in a house that offers 10/6 DDB, eh?

I believe this is how all casinos do match plays on craps. Somehow
they just can't stand the idea of someone giving themselves a
guaranteed win, even if they must sacrifice EV to do so.

Note that to totally guarantee a win, one would also need to put
a dollar on a single roll 12, Of course, at a cost.

REPLY: They have a gambling license, but they have no "gamble," if you
know what I mean.

I suppose I'm being a bit unfair to the Palms, given that it offers
better non-promotion plays than anyone else in the Strip neighborhood.

Maybe the real problem is that a corporation can get a gambling license
without proving that it employs enough people who understand both the
math and the spirit of gambling.

Thanks for the chuckle TomSki! I'll have to borrow that line at an
appropriate time in the future.

Similar situation..different result: When I take a bus to Mohegan
Sun I get two $10 match plays which can only be used at Sic Bo or the
big wheel. I place $10 on small and $10 on large to assure that in
the overwhelmingly majority of the cases I will at least make $10.
I've received curious looks but never was denied the bets.

This is silly. Slowing down the game because of this nonsense. If the game lost one roll due this the casino lost money. Yes, u can guarantee yourself a profit this way, but since the majority of coupon players just play one, accept all bets to the house limit cheerfully and as long as the casino limits the player to one coupon within a reasonable time (shift for example) they have more to lose with these foolish arguments rather than accepting the ebets and continuing the game as fast as possible.

Will Smith's Food King allow both Coke and Pepsi coupons in the same purchase?
