Silver Legacy. <compiled from daily reports filed late at night
from the kiosk in the Silver Lobby>
Travel smooth. Arrive Thursday eve.
36th floor corner suite, room#3601 . Windows are
small, so view isn't as 'expansive' as in the other corner suites,
but it's all about pushing the highest number in the elevator.
1st surprise: my comp balance is strangely empty. It must have
tapped out in January, unbeknownst to me. Had to pay cash
for my backwoods cigars at the gift shop- that was embarrassing.
Collected my $500 bonus cash and made it last from 7:15 -to-
11:30PM on quarters DW, JW, DDB, BP and SDDB & TB+, which I don't
have a strategy for. Highlight hand- one only: a Wild RF in JW
for 125.
Dinner 8PM-9PM at Sterling. I realized I hadn't eaten Wednesday
or Thurs, so got the 22oz porterhouse and scarfed it down,
politely.
Following my game plan, next 500 went at 25c 5-play 10/6 DDB on
the mezz. It's still there, paytable unchanged 10/6/40. Lasted me
30 min. I should have recognized the loud sucking sound. Poor
dealt hands and no hi-lites.
Next phase in my plan is 50c DDB (3 or 5-play). I played both
for about 90 minutes. An amazing positive run: 10 quads for 125
(incl. dealt quad Ks), 2 bonus quads for 200, 3 for 400 and a SF
for 100 thrown in for good measure. No RFs but 16 4-RFs since I
started today, two dealt. +$1200 for the long session, hopped
around between all 4 machines.
I went off the plan & lost $300 to $1 BP. Stayed off the plan
for a short run on the 50-play and 100-plays near hi-limit. +50
there. The 100-play JoB pays 90-1 for SF (got 1), Nickels,
settle down.
So, 2:15 and I'm geting a bit tired, but the casino is almost
empty of those pesky HUMANS, so I decide to take a run at the $1
DDB bank of 16. Prog is a lowly $4178, but I'd take it. Instead,
I draw to dealt trip As, get the forth A and a won-ner-ful 4
kicker for $2000 and a W-2G.
And, here I am, net up $2000 on day 1. Will sleep well.
Day 2:
So, late sleep-in, cancel housekeeping to avoid a knock on the
door. My room has a fridge stocked full of pop, juice and water,
gratis, that & the coffee maker got used.
Out "on the floor" about 2:15. Got dealt quad 2s playing 25c DDB
near men room, couldn't draw the kicker/+100. Took the hint and
switched to FPDW, hit the quad 2s there for 250, dealt 3. Dribbled
away the profits on the mezz 25c DDB X3 and X5, despite quad 3s
w/A kicker for 200. Hit quad As on 50c ACE$BP for 200, then spun
the wheel of fortune playing 25c slots for 400 creds: $100.
Back to main floor for $1 BP. Suited prog royals, only diamonds
was over 5000. Hit quad 2s for 200, but even session. Back to
25c, dribbled down to down 100 for the day come 7PM and dinner
at Sterling. Salmon Fettuccini and caesar salad, not to be
overfull.
Room break, watched some NCAA hoops. Oregon played g00t, they
got a depth of talent beyond guard Aaron Brooks- their other guard
was sure pumpin in the 3s. Back to mezz about 8:45. Fasten seat
belt. Wild ride ahead.
25c DDB X5 Quad As for 200. Dealt a 4RF, it comes in on one
line! Hand pay, I'll take it. 50c DDB X3: quad 2s for 200, As
for 400. +1500 for this paragraph.
-100 on $1 BP, back to 50c DDBX3. Dealt 4RF again. Comes IN
again on line 1. $2000 and my 2nd W-2G of the trip. A Mexican kid
was hangin out next to me, watched the RF come in. I gave him
$20 for good luck. Seemed nice, but I moved on with big wadski
in pocket. Oh- before I moved on, whilst playing my cred balance down
to an even number, I got dealt quad Ks for $125 times 3. Net
$2050 up for this paragraph.
Went to high limit to see if host was in- yup- phone in ear,
but he waves me in. Big smiles, I flash my partial wad of 20
benjamins, tell him it's the 2nd one of the day. Good chat about
life, the universe and everything; wine, women, song and Gamblin.
Hit the $1 DDB bank of 16, despite a quad T for 250, I drop 200.
Soon enough it's midnite, and I've accumulated 1640 pts since
midnite last, and up $3300 on the day.
I drop 350 playin the $1 BP w/suited prog RFs. Semi-panic, I
return to what's done me good: 50c DDB X3. In about ten minutes
I hit quad 3s for 200, quad As and quad 4s w/2 kicker for 400
each and walk off $1000 richer.
The rest of the night til now, I bleed off that 1000 and 300
more on $1 BP, 50c DDB multi-line, and some $1 coin DDB in the
new revamped alcove bar/gaming area. The music in the alcove bar
was kick-ass punk, I was impressed and enjoying it as a nice
change from the schmaltz I'm subject to elsewhere. Gotta get an
ipod.
So here I am trying to discreetly count my wad of 100s at the
kiosk in the lobby at 2AM, drunks wandering thru in small packs.
Seventy-two. That puts me up about 2700 on the day. Another
good day. I'll bet I count my money AGAIN when I get up to the room <grin>.
Day 3:
12:45 start today, Sat. I worked the single-line quarters until I
dropped 250. then lost 250 more on 5play DDD 25c, despite two
200 bonus quads.
Anecdote from the mezzanine: across from Cafe Sedona
(was Sweetwater). "Mom" is trying to have a session on the slots while "Dad" takes their
two hyperactive sons strolling around. Dad doesn't take them far enough away to give
mom a little peace. Everytime the kids spot mom, about every 5 min, the one 7-year-old
yells really loud "Mom! Hey Mom! How much have you won? " Hilarious. Ma finally gives
up & rejoins the family.
A plus 300 session on 3X DDB 50c with some 4 quads in about ten
min. Minus 200 playin $1 BP.
Then a killer good session on $1 DDB single line. quad 3 for
400, quad 4w/3 kicker for 800 and quad 2 for 400. Only held
onto 450 profit but long session- that means I got quite a few teaser
4RFs.
Next I play Tpl bonus Plus for 50c denom and hit quad 2s: had to
look twice at the payoff: 300? ! +100 on the session. Putzed
around- played the 5 min times 3 free slot game, felt silly.
+150 on DDB X3 from a quad A for 400. Up 350 on the day, Silver
is crowded about 7:15PM, so I slide across the street to
McDonalds. Woofed.
Returned to the bank of 4 $1 DDB prog at 4200 or so. Somebody
hit the RF on the bank of 16 and it wasn't me. Caught a quad 2
for 400 and escaped up 200.
Then, an hour session on 50c DDB 5-play. 5 quads on the way to
a DOWN 1000 session- ugh! The rest of the night was down, save
two highlights: nickel 100-play I held 3RF and drew an RF on one
line for $200. My lone up machine session was 5play DDB 25c -
two bonus quads for 200 ea. and an up 350 session. All my
sessions were short, as I stuck to loss limits, searching for the
machine or game where somethin good would come in. I didn't get
too frustrated, you know me- what will happen will happen- the
Zen thing. Nightcap was a $1 DDB X3 = -300 despite one quad for
250.
So, early finish tonite, head is heavy. 11 hrs gaming today,
$280 comp balance and a crazy 2800 pts on the day (that's 56K
coin-in) Down $1800 OOF. luckily, the pocket wad is still large
enough to attract the ladies, in theory.
Getting solid sleep so optimism for tomorrow runs high. There's
a mystery drawing in high limit at 5:00, in addition to the
promo desk area weekly drawing at 3:00. Might jaunt to Pepps if
I'm up early enuf or up late enuf.
Day 4
Sunday. Another fine sleep and even tho Oregon lost to
Florida and wrecked my pool, it's a nice peaceful start.
Lost 200 on $1 BP, despite quad 2 for 200. -200 on 5c hundred
play. Onto $1 DDB hit quad K for 250 and then..... On the
Deal....Quad As with a sweet 3 kicker for $2000 and my what, 3rd
tax form, just like that..**SNAP**.
Switched back to quarters, 25c DDB- got DEALT quad 4's w/2
kicker for 200. Walked away +150 on the 5 min session. Played
50c 9/6 DDB during the 3PM drawing- I had maybe 140 tickets, no
name call and dropped 300 watching some stiff win $10,000.
Up to mezzanine for multi-line, lost 350 on 25c DDBX5 and 50c
DDB X3. couple 200 bonus quads and a SF for 100 were highlights.
Next lost 400 on $1 single line DDB, with a $100 mistake: hit
max creds after an in-session break- the game had switched to
joker wild, on the 3rd hand I saw a Joker- that was my clue.
Duh! that was worth -100.
5:00 and time for the mystery drawing in the high limit area.
I had 86 tickets/chances. The guy who previously dumped in a garbage
bag full of tickets was not in town for this drawing, the staff informed me, Phew.
For the prize of "Free Tournament entry" they drew my ticket!
Turns out that was about the crappiest prize.
Whoopee, us Sterling card holders get free tourney entries anyways. BJ,
Pai Gow or slot tourney. normally $199 or $99 methinks. I have to enter also,
but my guest can use the prize. I wish I coulda got a better prize but
c'est la vie. Woofed whoresd'Ouvres, so skipping dinner.
About even for an hour, then a stubborn session on the
Multi-play. Dropped 600 on 50c DDB X3 & X5. Grrr! Put me down for
the day about 500. Time to take a room break. Need juju change.
No headache today, pacing myself on the cocktails and stogies. 8PM.
I got it in my head while on room break to taxi over to Pepps
Sunday nite. So, that I did. Caught a taxi down near the
shuttle bus area- a street-side stand. Fare is $10-$11 for those
who might do the same. Big tipper Mark coughs up $15. The new
sports book and gaming area at Pepps is BIG, well appointed. I
did the daily card swipe first, got a Mr. Money Challenge.
Played it twice, 'cuz I brought one along from my last visit.
Bombed out row 5 and 6, Worth $17 free-play for the two plays. Went to the promo
desk, added this $17 + my birthday card $50 to my balance which
was $200, total= $267 free-play. Yay! that should last as long
as I wanted to stay. I headed for highlimit to play $1 denom.
Along the way confirmed the former 10/6 DDB single lines near
blue keno are now 9/6. Prog on the $1. Same for high limit:
9/6. No progs. I played $1 ACE$BP and I guess I lost $50,
cashed out at $210. Then a token play of the 25c BP w/seq RF &
prog RF (@ 1182). A little $1 JW (-$50), 25c JW (even) and I
settled in at the cabaret bar for a spell of 50c JoB w/3-way
progs. A blues band with a talkative front man was the
entertainment. Excellent tunes, that kept me around instead of
scurrying back to Silver. Dropped 50 in a 45 min session, only
hit one quad for $67.
Two jokes: The singer is talkin: After 30 years of marriage,
they say you start to act and look alike. It's true- my wife is
startin to grow a beard , and I'm startin' to grow boobs.
One band member played with Prince for a while. Prince: yeah,
he is living proof that Liberace had an affair with Jimmie
Hendrix.
On my way out of Pepps, I took my $100 ticket and played some $1 DDB
prog. "Gone in 60 seconds" is what it seemed like. Cashed it out at
$15 for taxi fare, not that I didn't have the money, it just
seemed to be the karmically korrect thing to do. Taxied back,
driver let me smoke my backwoods. No profit from my Pepps 90 min.

Just inside the door at Silver, 60 seconds after exiting the taxi, I'm playin:
(no wasted time eh?)25c DW, JW & DDB, down $100 total. Upstairs to multi's:
even session on 5 X 25c DDB, thanks to quad 3 w/2 and quad A for
200 ea. then -300 on 50c DDB X3. Downstairs to the 100-play
outside of Hi Limit, -300 playin 5c BP. I'll tell ya, gettin bum
deals can really hurt in 100-play. Into hi-limit for a $1 BP
spin, -200.
Escape hi limit to play $1 DDB - I worked 4 of the bank of 16.
Quad 4 and 2 for 400. dealt quad K for 250 and quad 6 for 250.
UP 750 for the session. That felt good.
Back to JW 25c, +50. Then a break: I played Wheel of Fortune
slot for dollars. I got to spin the wheel 5 times for only 20-30
a pop. Then the 6th spin I snagged the 200. Up 200 for the
session and the surprise was that when I hit cash out, the
dollar coins started pouring out into the hopper. Vas iz das?
Confusion as I tried to remember the routine: find two buckets,
grab a fistful of coins, put them in the bucket. Take buckets to
nearest coin redemption machine, which was of course out of
commission, long walk to another one, collect paper money, which
of course was short one coin from my nice round $300 cash out,
then go wash hands. Such a bother for $200!
I then poured $50 into another slot- the Silver strike, where
you get a token if the bars line up with the Silver Strike icon.
No such luck. I had heard a blowhard loud talker earlier say
they are phasing out these Silver Strike machines.
Next I played 50c Triple Bonus Plus, even thx to Quads for 125.
Switched on same machine to 50c Super DDB and hit quad 3's w/2
kicker for 400 smackers.
Those 400 samolians went right back to the casino as I played $1
BP w/suited progs on my way back to the room about 2AM. I
checked my comp balance: $405. Not bad for 4 days starting at
zero.
So, my status at 8PM was down 600. In the 5 hrs of play 9PM-2AM
(part II), I was net +50. So, day 4 was 11 hrs play, minus 550
on the day.
Day 5:
Last day of tour, cleared out of suite about 1:15. Bags to bell,
limo reso. 4th night cost me $115 total and food was about $110.
Comps bal was over $400, so expecting no credit card charge.
Worked 25c denom early as goal was to take home a profit. Hit
Quint 5s on JW for 250. Spent 500 playin $1 BP w/suited progs.
Played 25c 5-play DDB for -500. <sigh>
Dropped another 500 on $1 DDB, got one quad for 250. High limit
$1 BP was even, got an urge to try some $5 9/6 JoB, and it paid
off when I hit quad Qs for $625, a +500 session.
50c Super DDB cost me 400. Then, a tour of the 16 $1 DDBs, got
thru about 10 machines, two quads for 250 ea. Needed the bonus
quads! Lost 800 and was into my own money for the first time on
Tour. Capped it off with 50c X3 DDB for -200. Down 2500 on the
day, about -400 overall for the Tour. (counting tips, etc)

trip and my jones for video poker is intact, alive and well,
and satiated for the present time.
