Major differences between vp games that are 'alike'

Hi,

What major differences are there between games that
are very similar to each other? Such as in the
following games:

1. JB and Bonus Poker

2. Deuces Wild and Loose Deuces

Also, if your favorite game, for example, is Deuces
Wild and on a day when you're not having much luck
with it, which one would you choose to play and why
(JB or Bonus Poker) ?

Gilbert,

True that JOB and BP are fairly similar in ER and variance, but DW and LD
are not. The swings in LD are huge, as reflected in a variance of over 70.

But since you asked us, I prefer BP and DW, but would go to JOB or Bonus
Deuces as alternatives. BD has similar bonus pays on low quints (as BP does
on low quads), you keep the second pair when dealt two pair and tossing a
second pair has always bothered me, and I've hit the four deuces with ace
kicker a couple of times. So it's a personal preference, although the
variance is somewhat higher than DW.

Learning Double Bonus to make 10/7 an option better than accepting 1
of the lesser paying or more volatile games. Not a fan of Loose
Deuces myself.

I spend at least 75% of my time playing FPDW. My last couple of trips, I
have gone through a few of cycles without hitting quad deuces. I switched to
the LD at the Palms and have been very lucky to hit them in a hurry. I'll
probably continue this pattern until my luck runs out. I did play for 12
hours straight without hitting deuces on the old LD at Terribles in July .
I did hit a royal but ending up giving $600 back trying for the deuces
which never came. . If I want to play conservative I play Pickem. I really
enjoy the .50 PE at the Palms. I stay away from DB as I don't know the
strategy well enough. I've never played BP but I have been known to get
crazy and play 10/6 DDB at the Palms. I also always try a few hands of .25
9/6 JOB on the Palms 50,000 sequential royal machine. Its better odds than
the lottery, but not by much!

I play 90-95% FPDW and the rest is LD, Sam's Bonus Deuces, or "Downtown Deuces". In other words, I play mostly some form of deuces. I usually keep track of how many times that I'm dealt three deuces. On my last trip for three days, I was dealt three deuces 42 times and not one of them converted (probably played 24-25K hands). The only thing that helped was being dealt four deuces on the Sam's Town Bonus Deuces. That was the only quad deuces that I got for the trip. No royals either. For "better or worse", I'm married to the deuces. :slight_smile:
