Majestic Star FYI

Harrah's Horseshoe is the same 0.1% on VP. Diamond Card at Harrah's is $110K per year so similiar to the $50K/six months at the Majestic Star.

The Majestic Star is the only Chicago Area property with better than 99.1% VP under the $1 level. Horseshoe removed some playable single-line $1 since the latest addition to 1c slots. I suspect that VP conditions will continue to go downhill in the Chicago Area.

Bounceback is still in the range of 0.5% so very mildly positive plays are available at 25c and up. Other offers seem to be getting worse.

They did have the coffee maker back in the room I stayed in two weeks ago. Calling the Majestic Star hotel a low-end Days Inn is disparaging to the Days Inn! It is too bad that the Ameristar does not have better VP ($1 fifty play 9-6 jacks and $1 single line 9-6 DDB with 5 way progressive only playable VP there.) as the hotel is first rate. (Used to be a Harrah's.)

For most people in this group I suspect that playable VP is the most important factor in where they play. I used to support Harrah's as a Diamond member as long as they had at least one bank of playable 25c VP as my mom who I usually take with would have something she liked. (She loves NSUD and STP 9-6 jacks, the latter undoubtedly because she hit a 3x 25c royal on one four years ago.)

Was as the Majestic Star today. Downgrades to two programs.
The multiple point days now exclude video poker.
No longer a $15 food voucher for seniors after 50 points.

Around May or June, Majestic announced that its "star" programs (its various tiers of player recognition), which usually are re-evaluated and taken away / re-awarded every six months based on the previous six months play (unlike most places' annual programs), were "extending" everyone's current level until "fall" (whenever they define that to be) - and that then, there would be an all-new awards program. Then a postcard came announcing "new" benefits as of Aug. 1 -- I guess what is reported above is the "new benefit"!!

Guess this is not that big a surprise (and would expect "more" - i.e., more reductions - to come by the time they wind out the whole new program). Although they do have some decent paytables for VP, cash-back has been 0.1% for years and years, therefore nearly worthless, and Superstar status, which requires $50K of coin-in per six months to maintain, really didn't provide much benefit other than the quota (two nights per month in addition to any coupon free nights) of "self-comp'ed" rooms at their pathetic hotel, which I often describe as low-end Days Inn, and which you really can't say much nice about except that the price is right.

I rarely have a stay there when I don't find something new lacking in the room - keys that don't work, coffee makers removed, remotes for the TV with no batteries, and almost always peeling wallpaper next to the shower (which always has a curtain that's about a half inch lower than the top of the tub's edge, so...surprise!). Complaints to management (and sometimes thru the VIP desk, trying a different approach) have apparently caused some rooms to get a coffee makers again; no other changes noted!

I sure wish the Horseshoe in the area, just 15 minutes away, would find some real estate on which to build a hotel, where I'm sure my Diamond status would qualify me for some stays!!
