Majestic: are cheques issued for large jackpots?

Haven't had this problem yet (:-)), but I was reading a post by Howard
in which he pointed out that Grand Victoria refused to issue a cheque
for a large jackpot. This has me wondering what the Majestic policy
is. Does anyone know? TIA.

I have gotten checks from Majestic before. The trick is (and this is
true for all casinos) that you have to ask for the check before they
hand you the money. If they give you the cash first, they cannot
convert it to a check, because this would be a "cash-to-check"
transaction, which is illegal under US money laudering laws.

If you can. I think anyone interested in a cheque would probably ask
the first chance they could. But many casinos that use remote
monitoring will trot out the personnel bearing cash as soon as they
detect a jackpot hit. One probably couldn't get a cheque in this
scenario, but it would be reasonable for the cashier to issue a cheque
if you take the jackpot cash there.

Don't know about that. Banks and other financial institutions issue
drafts for cash all the time. For a casino it seems the law could
easily differentiate between someone who wants to convert a jackpot to
a cheque as opposed to someone who walked in off the street with a
suitcase of cash.

Anyway, the good news is we won't need armored services when leaving
Gary.
