Main Street Station VP Tournament

Just saw this invitation in my bconnected online area.

January 3 through January 6, 2010.
Join us at the Cal or Main Street Station for the exciting $5,000 Free & Easy Video Poker Tournament!

I am planning on going to Vegas anyways from Jan 3 - Jan 10 for vacation and CES so this seems to work out grand for me. Being still a bit of a newbie, how do these tournaments work?

The tournament playing area is on the mezzanine area of the Cal. You play a total of 2 sessions using the double-double machines. You are given 1500 points to play with each session. Each session is I believe 20 minutes long. Five points are deducted for each game played and you try to play as many of the 300 maximum games within the time frame allowed. The 20 minute time limit should be long enough for you to play the maximum games. Your point total for the 2 sessions are added and the winners are of course the ones with the highest combined point total. If you are lucky and hit a royal or even the 4 aces with a kicker you have a good chance of placing. Have fun!!

Mrs. Flusher played in this tournament on our last trip. We were surprised to get the Aloha coupon book at checkin, which covered all our meals.

The tournament is written up on my blog:

Well, just got everything reserved for CES week and this tournament. If nothing else this is shaping up to be a ridiculously cheap trip. Should be fun.
