The reason I ask about the area is that my wife doesn't like driving
through bad areas. She won't go to the casinos in Detroit because of
the area around them.
Myself, I don't care but my wife gets upset. If it is a bad area, I
can always go with my mom who is retired. Go figure.

It is on a boat. You do not have to pay to board. You may board
at any
time. And yes, Gary Indiana might fairly be described as
the "armpit of
the midwest" --unless you have a predilection for rusting hulks of
steel
plants or refineries;-) OTOH, you don't see much of this on the
boat and
