Lyft and Uber verses taxis plus free ride for new users

I was initially leery of using Uber or Lyft but after having ridden them now, I can say they are much cheaper than taxis here in Vegas, usually 1/3-1/2 off. And usually the vehicles and drivers are nicer. One advantage is you see the cost upfront. You can also choose between a shared ride, regular car or better car. I will be using them to and from the airport from now on. No worry about which way to direct the cabby to the shortest ride. Also good for shorter hops from one casino to another.

I’m a newer user of Uber, but I’ve used it 4 or 5 times, and all cases except one, I was charged substantially more than it said the charge would be when I ordered the ride. Since you don’t get the automatic billing till after the ride is complete, I have no idea how to complain about it. I do like the service because you can order the larger, luxury vehicles and many times we have 5 or 6 pieces of luggage and my wife’s portable scooter.
