LVSun - AC Borgata positions itself by trashing the competition
Kudos to the Borgata CEO Boughner for calling it like it is! My
enthusiasm for the prospects that the Borgata opening presents has
doubled, although I'm still quite skeptical that we'll see better vp
paytables than other AC casinos (that's one hell of an investment to
recoup in a high cost venue).
I was a little amused by a couple of items in the article. It's noted
that "Borgata" means little village. Omitted was the organized crime
connotation. I wonder what they think of the guys who co-opted the
borgata.org domain for a website themed on the latter. At any rate,
with a NJ location, the concept of a casino being run by the Soprano
clan might have had greater appeal.
Separately, Boughner, apparently ever mindful of the importance of
"diversity" states, "Borgata is about aspirations, and not every babe
will be female. We are an equal opportunity employer." Now doesn't
that conjure up some interesting images?
