Rumors indicate that casino and restaurants have been shut
down and hotel guest are allowed in if they have a room key.
On the 10PM news on Channel 5 it was reported that about 7:30pm,
Binon's was shut down. The station stated employees were sent home,
told the casino would be closed until further notice.
On the Channel 8 site the had this:
"We have confirmed reports that Federal Marshals, the IRS and Gaming
Control Board agents are in the process right now of shutting down
Binion's Horseshoe Casino downtown.
Last month, the IRS placed a federal tax lien on Binion's, claiming
it owed $2.5 million in back taxes. And earlier this week, the IRS
placed a second tax lien on the Horseshoe. Eyewitness News was told
Friday night's action is an effort to collect money owed to union
pension funds.
Sources tell us officials have asked all patrons to cash out, and
have begun shutting down the tables and the main cage. For the past
several years, Binion's has been struggling financially, owing money
to everyone from Nevada Power to the Fremont Street Experience."

Where will we park now?
On the bright side; I got lucky and took down my ($35.00!) cash back
from the slot club less than 12 hours before they shut the doors.
I always valet park at the Plaza when I venture to Fremont Street. Unlike
self parking there, Valet is free and you do not need to validate. (before
the tipping discussion ensues, yes I do ). Valet for the Plaza is located
on south side between the Bus Station and the Sports Book. I have always
found the valet parking at the Plaza to be fast and friendly. $2min/ 10
time odds at Plaza crap tables is an additional bonus that I take advantage
of now and then. It's as old school as the Horseshoe with an odor left over
from 1968 provided at no additional charge.

Certainly hope someone revives the place. From the little reading I
did in the popular press it seems the current management really did
need to make some significant changes wrt staffing. How do you lose
money running a casino? I think the local gov't better do what it
takes to get something happening at that location. If it was
shuttered long-term it would really be a black eye for the already
struggling downtown.
'bout everthing and NOW.. Jack's Steak House and as of today a much
improved Fremont joint. Strip Harrah's WAS Holiday In an out, 12 ys
ago. VP's worse buy u sleep clean. CD
