LVRJ - Sahara fills locals' wish list -- loose slots, cheap ...

I would be very surprised if they can actually enforce that "locals only"
thing. As mentioned by a previous poster, they can only make a gaming area
truly exclusive for a very few high-limit areas around town, and I think even
those need a special license.

I got just about the same impression that this was for locals only. I'm not
local but they can stick that offering up their local. Let the locals support
the whole damn town - IF THEY CAN!

Thanks for your attempt at humor. I suppose that occasionally

you are successful in this endeavor.

Apparently you do not know the answers to the questions that

I posed. Perhaps someone else does.

Absolutely. Every local is photographed while getting his or

her players card. Face recognition software detects any non

local person who enters that area of the casino. Because the

Sahara does not wish to make a scene in public, you will be

allowed to play undisturbed. However, upon exiting the casino

security will escort you on a one way trip to the desert. After

all, it is the Sahara. Very old-school.

As for FPVP? Sure, they have it, but you are going to have

trouble spending your winnings when you are buried up to your

neck.

The RJ article seems to imply that "Local's Lane" is restricted

non-locals also play in that area? Do the "looser slots" mentioned,

also include full pay VP?

JEEZ! I just can't believe the posts on this Group about this subject.

Nowhere in the article did it say that only locals were allowed to play
in that section of the casino.

According to the article, "A portion of the casino has been designated
'Locals Lane,' where more than two dozen slot machines are set to
higher payouts."

So, Sahara named a section of their casino 'Locals Lane'! Big deal!
That does not imply that only locals can play those two dozen
machines! If they decorated it like Ireland and called it "Leprechaun
Lane" - would that imply that only Leprechauns could play?

Hey Babe....I know the answer to your question:
NO! "Local's Lane" is NOT restricted to local players only.

I'd be interested in playing at Leprechaun Lane. Are only Irish people allowed to play there or can an Italian sneak in to get the perks? I really hope they have Shamrock Shakes. I can't wait until next March for another one.

I know 9/5 DDB only has a 97.87% but the progressive also adds to that. If anybody is interested, head over to the Suncoast just west of the high limit room.

I wish I would have known about that yesterday when we were there! It's always fun chasing a high progressive (sort of).

Nowhere in the article did it say that only locals were allowed to

play in that section of the casino.

Actually - it could have been taken as implied in the following
quotes from the article by the use of the words "set aside for them"
in the first quote; and "locals-only gaming area" in the second:

(from main body of the article)
"We had a good vein of locals," Trempler said. "They told us what
slot machines they liked, so we set those games aside for them. We
hope to draw those customers in to make more trips."

Those are the answers that Babe was looking for. Now she has them.

I read the same article as everyone else, and it never occurred to me
that the Sahara was only allowing locals to play these machines. In fact,
I believe that there is some kind of law against casinos doing that.

BTW, the players club booth in "Locals Lane" IS only for locals.

Probably anyone can play there, but you won't get marketing offers
unless you have a local address. It probably helps to have an Asian
surname also, like Lee. If you're male, you should consider getting a
sex change operation.
Check out this "local" disguise:

Thanks, Neil! It's a relief to ascertain that some of us passed
reading comprehension and retention!

I read the passages and picture caption exactly as you described
above. It didn't make sense to me that a casino could or would
actually enforce something of this type, so I posed a question
to the board asking for more information. This caused one poster to
"make fun" of my question, and another to lament the content of
some of the current posts on the subject.

Perhaps it's the summer heat, or the jittery economy that is
causing a lack of civility. It's too bad. I really think that
it makes for a more pleasant atmosphere when those who either
don't know, or don't wish to provide the answer to a sincere
and civil question, also don't bother to criticize or disrespect the
person who posed the question.

~Babe~

I really think that it makes for a more pleasant atmosphere when
those who ask a question take the time to *thank* someone who
answers them.

I posted several answers to your questions.

Your welcome.
