Good!

I've often wondered what kept Sands going. The place is a dump. I
guess the new casino being planned in its place by Pinnacle would
take a couple of years at least.

I went to Sands for a couple of years, when I knew much less about VP
than I know now; they used to give good bonuses for customers coming
in tour buses. More in the first week of the month, and a little
bonus if you had a coupon from a visit from the previous month. None
of these gimmicks saved it. Went to its $7.77 buffet once. The
ambience was that of a warehouse cafeteria.

Looking at the most recent AC casino, Borgata, Pinnacle has a lot of
homework to do.

Wonder if this will be the first AC casino to have flat panel
displays for all games!

The Sands has its place in AC and I hold some very fond memories of
it. (I haven't been active there in the last couple of years.)

There's no doubt that you had to be "discriminating" in taking
advantage of it amenities. And I had a coffee shop moment that
measured right up there with the Geico "waitress that wipes the
unwanted mayonaise off on the table" ad. (This was before the most
recent makeover.)

However, the property has a "down home" appeal that rates right in
their with the charm of some of the LV locals. It has been among the
best of low to mid roller plays in the past.

I'll be a little saddened when the wrecking ball shows up.

I stopped by the Sands for the first time last year to see what kinds
of games they had, general atmosphere, etc. To be ruthlessly honest,
the place was a dump with no decent VP machines. Considering the
success of Borgota, the renovations at the Trop and ongoing upgrades
at some of the HET properties, I always wondered how they attracted
any business.

A new casino right in the center of the boardwalk would be another
boost for AC IMO, so I think it's a great idea. Trying to renovate the
Sands as-is would be a wasted effort.

I like the fact all their JoB machines at the SANDS were 9/6 and not short payers.
