Las Vegas based Pinnacle Entertainment announced this morning it will
acquire Aztar Corp., operators of the Tropicana, for $2.1 billion.
Pinnacle, which operates the Boomtown Casino in Reno, does not operate a
Las Vegas casino. The company has properties in Mississippi, Louisiana,
Indiana, and Argentina and is building two casinos in St. Louis. Pinnacle
will pay $38 per share for Aztar's outstanding shares and will acquire the
Tropicana casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City as well as casinos in
Laughlin and Indiana.
