China-
Perhaps this has already been pointed out- as I get these
messages in digest form- but are you not aware that there is no
state income tax in Nevada because of the taxes- well, really the
portion of profit- the casinos pay to the state? I don't know if it
is enough, but my guess would be most of the residents are happy
with that arrangement.
Thanks, Lee.

Profanity is not allowed on VPfree and here you guys are using the
word taxes. All kidding aside, as a Nevada resident I'll take a
stab at some numbers. They may not be exactly right, but are in the
ballpark. State tax on gaming revenue is somewhere around 6%. This
tax pays somewhere around 75% of the state budget. We got in a
budget crunch a few years ago and I think they put like a 1/4% tax
on revenue of other businesses. There was alot of barking over this
little tax bill.
The Governator of California has been over here begging ex-
California businesses to move back. One of the reasons you see so
many warehouses in Nevada is because a business could buy the land
here and build a warehouse for less than the Environmental Impact
Statement would cost in California. Here's some creative taxation
for you. California taxes warehouse inventory--we don't.
I think Nevadans have been about the lowest taxed people in the
country. We've also been the fastest growing state for like 20
years. How could that be? This state is almost all desert. It
might be! It could be! It is! Low taxes.
