LVRJ - Monorail rating, ridership go down

When I go to Vegas I often reflect on the fact that the large casinos
could do more for the community their workers bring their families to live in. In
many counties in California before you can develop a track of property you
must do something for the community--i.e., build the necessary road ramp,
bridge, extension of the sewer, whatever--in other states the fund for schools must
be enhanced etc.

But it seems to me that the monorail is an obvious casino interest. We
discussed it once in this forum, but if it could have good transportation the
strip and surround would not always be in a traffic jam situation. The labor
intense casino and hotel would have happier workers who could get to work without
the expense of a vehicle. You would have more foot traffic if you could go up
and down the strip. More playing? Well, the more casinos in the country the
more players we have--so I would guess that the more you know of Vegas, the
more you will enjoy!! That means more trips, more gambling, etc.

You are absolutely right--why aren't the people of Clark County demanding
support for their county.

Gee, suppling jobs that pay decent with benefits for people with
little or no education not enuff? Its that why 5k people moving there
evry month? The fact that Clark county has 1 of the highest rate of
home ownership in the nation might be a clue.

reminds of the time couple of years ago when Geraldo went to vegas
to "show the explotation of hispanic workers" . But he could not find
it. What he found was " was one of the last places in America where one
can earn a piece of the american dream" & interveiw the hotel maids &
culinary workers who explain that between Mom & dad they earned $20+ an
hour take home that was allowing them to purchase homes & get started
on a good life.

A couple of my friends have sent their slacker kids to vegas to find a
job when they did not want to go to school. They got jobs.

I have read in LVRJ that labor shortages is why some of the condo
projects cant get it built & it has caused some casino's projects to
take longer than plan to get built.

It would have made more sense to put the mono rail down the middle of
veags blvd & close it to autos but they didnt. I dont think it will
ever do what they want it to until it goes from airport to downtown but
will it ever happen?

The casinos are in business to make ever increasing profits and
community and employees be damned. (Jackie Gaughan may be the one
exception but all of his casinos were in LV.) Why do you think the
Strip casinos are located outside of Las Vegas? There is no
community. Taxes are somewhat less than in Las Vegas (wouldn't want
to be taxed to help the community, now would they?) and the Clark
County Commissioners pretty much give them anything they want. They
love to use the name Las Vegas but want to avoid any ties.

Whoever planned the route must have thought that everyone would want
to spend part of their day just getting to the monorail stations. I
can't imagine me or my family ever riding the monorail. It's way too
difficult to get to the trains, let alone raising fares to make ends
meet. The monorail needs to be the next implosion and moved to the
center of the strip!

I know you can "tweak" a strategy chart in FVP by moving items around. Can you create a new strategy altogether? Or input one from a startegy card? For example, the Wizard of Odds has three strategies for JB; simple, intermediate, and optimal. Is there any way for me to enter these in FVP so I can see how well I play based on them. For example, the double inside SF with no high cards appears just above "discard everything" on most strategy charts including those in FVP. However, In the Wizard's simple strategy, this hand does not appear in the table. There does not seem to be any way in FVP to delete an item.

You know--when they expanded the monorail in LV they ruined a good thing. When the monorail was
free, it was worth the walk thru the MGM/Ballys to
get to and from mid-strip. Then from the mid-strip you could hike it up to the Fashion Show, Wynn and Stratosphere--if you were so inclined.
Now it costs $$$$ to get there and my movement and
play as various casinos has decreased! Luckily,
the tram between Monte Carlo and Bellagio is open again and if I can get from mid-strip to the end by MGM and back, easily, I won't pay to ride the mono-rail. You're right--whoever thot of the route--well, they shoudda asked. . . . .

Nope. It is down, probably never to re-open, from the tenor of the sign in the Bellagio.
The sign was up on SuperBowl weekend.

move it below the discard 5 cards slot, same as deleting
and the answer is yes, FVP allows you to evaluate and play a user
generated strategy (within limits, some fancy penalty card plays can't
be entered)
