I don't understand that line yesterday. I fly Southwest to Vegas about
once a month - not usually on holidays though - but I am very familiar
with the usual lines.

We got to the airpot Monday at 7am and were abotu half way down the
terminal - the guy with the "end of the line" sign literally could not
keep up with the end of the line. By 8am it was to the end of the
terminal and I guess grew to 3/4ths of a mile. Although, I am skeptical
of reports on that kind of thing - everybody exagerates.

We waited 90 minutes to get to the counter. I expected the same thing
at security..but no..it was 5 or 10 minutes. I don't get it - the only
crazy line was for Southwest baggage. What is the deal there? I don't
think they operate more planes on a holiday so there shouldn't be THAT
many more people. How can the baggage line be truly insane and security
be nothing?

My theory is that many of the people that can for the "game" never travel much, nor visit Las Vegas. I saw a couple of guys piling luggage into an SVU from CA - I was stunned at how much crap they had. Then again, I always carry on my luggage. Saw two young girls at Paris valet that each had two bags - the bellman could barely lift them into the back ot their rented SUV - all that for a weekend in Vegas?! I'm sure that the over weight bags generated a huge charge, and most of those werre met with lots of anger, protests, etc., which slowed lines even more.

In line at the airport - two young guys who obviously rarely flew - one didn't have a boarding pass yet he was trying to get through security to a flight that left in about 15 minutes. He couldn't understand why he needed a BP in his name just to get to the plane - and he wasn't happy about it.

I carry on no matter what in LV just to avoid the lines.

  Cheers!

Me thinks that many 'hoods were empty last weekend as they travelled to LV to hang out..........

the kiosks were not working so every one who did not have carry on
and a boarding pass had to wait in the line. Even with a paper ticket
you were out of luck

Don't really know what to make of this, but yesterday I got a postcard from the LVH congratulating me for qualifying for Ultra status. "Because you earned more than 8000 Tier Credits during the previous earning period we are honored to exrend your membership into our exclusive Ultra Tier."

The kicker: I haven't played a dime there since the pick 'em was removed in June. Before then I averaged about $20,000 coin in per day, exclusively on pick 'em.

Any opinions on what this might mean? Is it a mistake? The mailer opens with "Congratulations Jigger" so it must be me, right? Is it a way to woo back wayward players? I will be in town in two weeks so I might at least stop by the club to get a new card and see if this is indeed true. Wonder what would happen if I called to get a reservation? Would they have the Ultra level and automatically exten a suite and limo?

I'm not well versed in 'Ultra' level benefits. I
do know that I've gotten some mailers/emails from
these folks of late also that don't seem to make
any sense (benefits at levels that infer
their systems are ascribing a much higher level
of play than I could have possibly achieved.) I
assumed this was desperation from the new owners
but on reflection perhaps there's some incompetence
in their IS group.

I guess that in the end you have little to lose
in seeing what you can get. As long as you go
into this with your eyes/ears open what's the
worst that can happen? They can't make you go
to the Barry Manilow show

Hey Jigger,

I got the same postcard and I haven't played there since a week before
they removed the Pickems either. Looking at my log shows my last trip
in late May, 2996. Also, my postcard says I need to earn 8000 tier
credits by June 30, 2007 in order to maintain the "status".

Geez, if I had known that I was "Ultra" maybe I would have visited them
during the last year.
