The monorail was a great idea but poorly executed. Hiding it a half mile off the strip, making customers weave through the casinos and shopping, not having any moving walkways to get to it, doomed it.
Now with the increase in price, I find it easier to rent a cheap car and use the plentiful free parking each casino offers. The wife and I even took a side trip up to the Inn at Mount Charleston, beautiful place. The monorail doesn't go there.
If they expand to the airport, they need a way to get your bags to the hotels without you having to lug them the distance to the check in from the station.
