Speaking of the Golden Nugget (Laughlin) did anyone get a usual
bimonthly (Jan/Feb) mailer? I got a postcard yesterday for 2 free
nights with a marketing code on it, good until mid-March.
This is not a good sign, since the usual "The Insider" included
double point coupons, food comps or point conversions and alot
stronger room offers.
The GN just might slip out of first place in my rankings. They used
to be way in front of the other Laughlin casinos. Ahh, I will give
them the first quarter for the changeover before they lose their #1
status.

"The new phone book is here, the new phone book is here!!!" --- Steve
Martin in "The Jerk".
Walking up my ice covered stairs today I first saw a Priority Mail
package (Huntington Press), then in the actual mailbox my "Insider"
from GN. Yes, I acted like the gas station attendant (who gets
Bernadette Peters).
My GNL mailer was about ten days late. Over two years it was the
most consistant casino mailing arriving 3-7 days before the two month
period began. I was twitching, since GNL got about 60% of my action
in 2003.
OK, I will share...
This glossy 2 page double sided flyer is my favorite casino mail.
Front page-touts the "Four of a Kind Fridays" promo (a 40 coin COD)
and "Winter Break 2004" weekend January 13-16, for the over 50 group,
a Laughlin wide promo.
Back Page-small ad for "The Deck" the on the river dining
experience. Also an ad for "Sunday Brunch", 9-1:30pm. This is a
good looking $22/head brunch based in Jane's Grill. They expand the
seating to include half the front foyer with the plants and water
fall.
Inside the "Insider" is where the goodies are. Page two-a Jan/Feb
calendar with a legend. In the upper corner of January a teaser for
a new promo, "check your mailbox for upcoming GNL Gold Stamps card".
A new one.
Page three-two small ads for "NASCAR 2004" promo and "Ticket to Win",
back by popular demand! But the key is the eight coupons on this
page. Each month traditionally means two double point coupons...yes
got 'em. One of them states the number of Golden Getaway points you
have available for the two month period. Two are for a monthly free
gift with 100 points earned. The last is a wildcard, this time it is
$15 extra cashback when you redeem for $40. Last time, in December,
it was to turn $40 of food comps into Albertsons GC.
Golden Getaway points-a flexible way to use your room comps. Mine
are 11 for Jan/Feb. Weekday-1, weekend-2 and Special events-4 points
per night. Book early since there are only 300 very comfy rooms.
Thanks GNL!
(OBTW, my Priority Mail package had three books...authored by Dancer,
Scott and Wong.)
