LVRJ - Gaming foe characterized as high roller
To set the record straight, Bennett was NOT outed in this article. He's
said for years that he is a gambler, it's never been a secret. And for
years he's said that he does not view gambling as a major vice.
As for his reported $8 million in losses over a ten year period, that does
seem to fall in the "problem" area in my opinion. More telling is his
assertion that overall he's "about even." It's statistically pretty tough
to be even. Much easier to be ahead or behind. But to a guy like Bennett,
who makes 50 grand just for showing up for dinner, being a million or so
behind might be considered "about even."
For some of the media to treat this as if it's a major revelation or that
Bennett is some kind of hypocrite is disingenuous at a minimum. It's been
common knowledge for years.

I agree. I've been following some of his stories for a while, and LVRJ should have known at least as much as I do that this guy was a gambler/high-roller. Typical of the media, they sensationalized a story to generate interest and sales. But one thing I wasn't aware of if even THAT'S true: He played video poker and slots--and purportedly the $100 vp machines. Kind of makes you wonder if those who say they win and only play higher limits might have similar skeletons....
