Some of those "experts" need to have their heads examined!

Dealer: 10 percent if you're winning, $1-$2 if you're losing
Slot jackpot: 10 percent
Dealer: 10 percent of your winnings
Valet parker: Zero in, $1 out

If nothing else, a fun read.

These "experts" are they fair to all or do they represent the interests of th etip recipients or their employers who want the public to cover what should really be their wage expense.

I see it this way. Minimum wage workers should be tipped. It is as much the price of service as the official cost (provided svc quality is adequate). But 10% for dealer's. This seems high. This would wipe out your overall winnings. I think the common suggestion of a bet from time to time for the dealer or a few dollars when you cash out might be more appropriate.

As to slot floor persons? One percent on jackpots will not affect your overall EV that much and if it is earned (good service, prompt service, etc) it is a guideline I use. At casinos where you are RFB this is very important. Better to be a little generous than a little stingy. Obviously if your jackpot only reduce your overall losses rather than put you way ahead you might adjust accordingly. For example, if you just hit a 50 cent Royal and are still $2K down, I understand only giving $10, but if you hit another one and catch up, should be at least $20, and if you really are way ahead would $25 be a problem?

In restaurants the old 15% is creeping towards 20% as the standard. TIPFLATION is here to stay.

The only problem I have is where I am told what to tip. Why do some places have a "gratuity" charge for parties of 8 or more etc? Are they afraid that the tip will be inadequate or is this a way to encourage double tipping? If I have a group of 8 and I feel the service is worth 20% I will give it. If it is worth 10% I will give it.

The only place I wonder is for limo and shuttle drivers. I have seen shuttle drivers that open the door from the driver's seat getting on and off and do nothing more than drive and have a tip jar. If there is no luggage handling involved should one tip? Do they report these tips?

That's why Steve Wynn never let them hustle in his properties.
