LVRJ: Burglaries not uncommon at Las Vegas hotels

It's interesting how people staying in hotel rooms act so dumbfounded after discovering their rooms had been entered overnight while sleeping and their valuables stolen....AFTER BEING TOO STUPID TO UTILIZE THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THEIR DOORS!

I know plenty of people who've told me they've had their room safes broken into while they were away, so I've never trusted or used them. Stay with your money etc. Nobody knows what you have when walking around town or thru the casinos--unless you're wearing a tell-all sign.

Perhaps she was too "stupid" in not asking for another room, but the article SAYS the deadbolt was broken.

I can't imagine ANYONE not putting the deadbolt or chain on, especially when going to sleep. Even "stupid" people aren't THAT stupid.

Of course, if you're drunk, all bets are off.

Cashing out a ticket or chips or screaming "I'm a winner, everybody look at me!" would be obvious tells. But valuables always need to be held close, when sleeping, under the pillow is best. Portable door alarms are probably a great idea, as is a CCW. Another idea is to lose the trackers and not sleep or park at the casino you win at.
