A database update: The LVH has a bank of 4 $1/$5 9/6 JoB located opposite the buffet west of the sportsbook bar. They are evil and I hate them, but they are there.

JK,
You too?!? I played about an hour on the 9/7 DB triple play and ended up with a grand total of 4-of-a-kinds of........zilch. Zero. Not a single one. Not a good session, needless to say.
Meanwhile, the guy a few machines down was playing single-line $25 9/6 DDB for maybe 10 minutes and (of course!) hit 4 aces with the kicker for a mere $50k, plus the $3,125 quad bonus. Go figure.
All within the realm of probability, but unpleasant nonetheless. It's tough being the one who evens things out for the house.....

Thanks.

I'm happy they didn't send me a coupon.

I was hating them at the $ level.
Then I jumped to $5 to chase my loses, (against Bob Dancer's advise)
and I hit a royal on the last machine on the right holding Ah, Qh and Jh. Nice...

Sounds like something Rob Singer would do.

Know, know, let's not be nasty. There's nothing worse than being

Congrats on the hit.

Having a coupon for a bonus on quads is a good deal. There are
definitely bankroll considerations. If you're a quarter player, you
aren't going to feel comfortable playing a $5 game no matter whether it
has a 5% overlay or not. I haven't checked the inventory at Hilton
recently and I don't know the exact wording on the coupon, but it's
possible that playing a 98.5% $25 game was a better play than a 99.5% $5
game.
Should anyone find themselves in such a bankroll-deficient
position with a great coupon in the future, you might want to call upon
a well-financed player to be partners with you. You'll have to work out
the details, but this is a way to gain additional benefit while not
increasing the risk.
"Insurance Companies" don't work for free, of course, but a 5%
expected profit yields plenty of room for a mutually satisfactory
arrangement.

Just a theoretical question Bob. If someone had a coupon like this good for all denominations up
to $25 and offered it for sale, what do you feel would be an appropriate price for it.

Not that anyone was dying from the suspense, but I did indeed play the
2nd coupon last Friday, bravely trying the $5 JoB again. It would have
been nice to have a fairytale $20K royal to talk about, but I'll take
what a I got: a reasonably prompt (about 15 minutes) quad and a nice
little session for a $1300 profit. Not exactly vengance, but I'll take
it.
