The Lanai Suites have become our favorite. They are
on the 3rd floor pool/rec deck. All are newly
remodeled with new everything, including plasma tv's.
They have sliding glass doors that open on to a patio.
The only thing missing is a jacuzzi, but the
oversized shower is great.

The Lanai suites can be very nice, although it's been a few years since I stayed in one. They have a nice sitting area and are spacious, but there are some trade-offs, as the Lanai suites are on the same floor as the pool. First, during pool weather, you have a lot of traffic on your floor. Second, we were there once during a locust invasion, and the entire hallway was filled with dead bugs (which entered from the door to the pool area). Third, because there are public walkways outside, we once had a peeping Tom looking into our room.
Because of this, I usually ask for one of the oversized East Tower rooms that has a jetted tub and dual love seats. FYI, there are also some oversized North Tower rooms that are also very nice.
We stayed in one of these East Tower rooms in September and had a lovely time. If your host can put you in a Lanai suite, your host can probably put you into one of these rooms.

-Hi Lainie
The rooms you describe in north tower, are they what LVH calls suite?
They put me in "suite" which was a large bedroom with small jetted
tub and shower. The tv was way across room and had to see over couch
to see tv from bed. A second room was a joiner with sitting area, bar
and had it's own bath and entrance. A bed was in the wall and could
be pulled down. I didn't need two rooms. Checked one out next
morning. The suite I'm used to is full bedroom with full size stand
alone whirlepool. Seperate bath in bedroom. One entrance into living
room with dining table. Couches, tv, frig and it's own bath. A 2
bedroom suite has another joiner bedroom on other side of livingroom.
I stayed in suites at Resorts, Bally, Mirage, Stardust and Taj; they
all beat LVH by leaps and bounds. It seems LVH suite just means big
not nice. I have not been in the real suites on the top floor. I
don't think my play would get me one. There might be other better
stuff that I have not seen. Don't get me wrong, I like LVH. But, my
wife doesn't like the rooms. So my 8 to 10 days in Vegas are spent at
other properties. By the way, I agree the Lanai are real nice.

I agree with whitejeeps on the "suite description at the LVH. I am
usually C3 up there and they ask if I want a suite. I think "Oh boy,
one of those nice rooms like at the Mirage, Bellagio, etc" and end up
in the room whitejeeps describes ..."bed pulls out of the wall, a
sitting area, and a 2nd bedroom nextdoor...big but not nice" that's
a great description - bigger than a normal room but not in any
way "nice" as in fancy. Nothing that make you say 'wow' when you walk
in.
I've always wonderded if I wasn't asking for what I should because if
that's the best they have (for a c3 with about 35k/day) it's way
below the nice strip properties.

Hi Jeep, It seems like the LVH calls everything a suite, regardless of wheater it's really true. Not being a big enough player to qualify for a suite at on-strip resorts, but being highly rated in the HHonors system, I've been able to get rooms at the LVH that are nicer than standard. We used to get those rooms for $29/night -- and you just can't beat the quality for that price. Now, we're locals, so we don't need to stay on the strip any more. That being said, we still take about 4-5 "trips" to LV/year. and now that we're both Diamond at Harrah's, we usually get nice, upgraded rooms there (or at the Rio).
