LVH - the Bad and the Ugly..........

Just got back, and folks it ain't pretty. The new brochure clearly states that comp dollars accrue at a rate of $1 to $125 coin in. .8%, right? Yeah right. I played just over $58,000 coin in over 3 days and my comp/cash account accrued at a rate that appears to be about .12%. This seems to be just about the same rate that my old comp account would go up. I was shocked, so I talked to a supervisor boothling..........

She said that the advertized rate was "not for all machines - video poker was less because you can throw part of the hand away to try and improve it." Me thinks the "theo" system is at work here. She actually dragged her screen up onto the counter to show me all of my "sessions". they were broken down by coin in, time, and amount of comps issued. A 4 OAK was a session as the card is pulled by the attendant when you are paid - no comp dollars awarded here.

Bottom line, cashback has been virtually eliminated on the better games, and the comp rate seems to advance at the same glacial pace.

The brochure is VERY misleading - no mention of VP at all. So I asked if VP was a slot? Yes, but the rate of comps was "different" for VP. How then can I find out how much I am accruing? "You can't" was the reply - then she hauled the monitor up.

Damn, from .66% CB to virtually zero is pretty drastic, to say the least.

Another little surprise was Benihana is no longer included in C3. Would have been nice to know that before running up about $100 in dinner charges........

No more C4, no more cash back, a poor comp rate, drastically reduced room offers. Who do they think they are, Wynn?!

This will probably eliminate a lot of play by locals? What about visitors? Any place better for a $$ player in town?

It was nice while it lasted though............

SK

Too bad, guess i wont be going back anytime soon.

I feel like I am a little late getting to the dance. I am making my 1st comped trip (room for 3 nights, limited food, $125.00 cash) to the LVH next month. It sounds like I should make sure I get established somewhere else while I am there. Would anyone have any suggestions for me on the strip?
I play $10-15K coin in per day. mostly 9/6 JoB in .25/.50/1.00
I would like to get a free room and food offers. I am not a picky eater or particularly picky aboout the room.
I think I might try the Stardust (I have got offers in the past but never stayed there), the Frontier, or the IP.
Any feedback is always appreciated.

The attractiveness of LVH to those interested in value for their gambling
dollar has been steadily declining for a long time. Last I heard, Even
Elvis had left the building. This is just the latest nail in the coffin.
Given your preferences and play, The Dust may not be a bad call --With, as I
recall, $JB, quarter NSUD, nickel/quarter JB MS and room offers (and more)
that come like clockwork once you are established. Stardust rooms are
pretty basic motel quality. Another option given your requirements is
Caesars. Steady offers, NSUD and you can't spit without hitting a JB
machine... Don't try this though, because it's pretty disgusting. Of
course, the Dust may be demolished and Caesars may morph into just another
Harrah's. The world spins on. Don't get married to any casino. Off Strip
options for you abound, if you're interested in taking a walk on the wild
side.

Hi Todd:

At that level of coin in, you will get good offers of bounceback and
rooms at Stardust, as well as good tournament mailers. I've been
staying there regularly for two years and have no problem with the
rooms or the restaurants. Email me privately if you would like
further recommendations.

Quite right, Steve. Kinda stupid on their part. Was just down there, cleaned out my windfall of $587 casback, and waved goodbye. I mean, if they hadn't turned the comp dollars into cashback, we would likely have come back to eat now and then, and thus maybe even play a bit. As is, my family has been oblidged to:
1)Run down and grab a total of nearly $1000 in cashback before they changed there minds.
2)Never set foot in the joint again, ever (unless something changes).
Not a real good business plan.

I'm hoping the Wynn mailings will be as good as early reports indicate. Outside of that, the strip is getting to be slim pickings.

The dust CB is anemic, but the offers/promotions/tournaments add to EV.

EV.

Hey Chandler:

Agreed, but it's much more than Stations CB, which is zero.

I also think relocators from LVH will find the rooms at Stardust
lacking. Haven't stayed at LVH in over a year or so, but my room
there was spacious and well appointed, as opposed to "just fine"
at 'dust. Of course, I prefer the old East tower with the balconies.

I agree. The rooms at the Dust are definitely a step down from LVH.

I'll take your word for the regular rooms; however, the suites are
another matter. I think the Stardust suites are much nicer than
those in LVH. In fact, ML and I dislike the LVH suites so much that
we routinely refuse them in favor of over-sized deluxe rooms which
we very much like.

Pete

I agree. The rooms at the Dust are definitely a step down from

The only suite I had at LVH I was really impressed with. So impressed I ran
downstairs to grab a camera for pictures.

Nah. We really didn't rate it. One of the perks that come with checking in
very late on a fully booked convention night, and having our initial room
(that shared a wall with the elevator shaft providing amusing "Doctor Who"
sound effects)be unacceptable because it was a little, ummm, bloody. One
of the best decorated suites we've ever stayed in... right down to actual
hardbacks on the bookshelves.
