It is for energy and local phone calls. It was involved in a class action and those who stayed at the hotel during that time were sent 2 coupons/stay, one for $3, and one for $2.50 as part of a settlement. Seems the public wasn't alwats informed. But if you can get comped, either thru offers or a host, you don't pay the fee.

I just stayed at the Hard Rock comped for 1 night and the front desk made me
pay $5.45 upon check-out for some sort of a "resort fee" even though I was
comped. If I was informed at check-in it was something in writing because I
can assure you I was not verbally informed nor was there a placard
displayed. I haven't brought it up to my host yet.

Try disputing with your CC company (if you paid by CC) . The card company will contact the hotel, who will have to reply. If you paid in cash send a letter to the hotel with a CC to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the Better Business Bureau, and the State Attorney General. At least in the future this will force the hotel to notify the public and perhaps have the guest sign a written statement acknowledging the ripoff(fee).

Thx for publicizing this to the group. Despite the Hard Rock's proximity to UNLV, the airport, and excellent bus service to the airport and downtown from this hotel will personally stay away from staying there until you tell me this issue is resolved.
