On this count, extraordinary kudos are due to Trump Plaza in AC. They
have an entire casino floor that is designated no-smoking. While
there are no table games in this area, in the last year they have
installed a modest number of relatively strong vp paytables --
including, for the very modest player, a decent number of nickle 9/6
Jacks.

The Plaza clearly has no concerns that this area impairs profitability
since there is a similarly respectable number of good paytables in the
main casino. The non-smoking designation has been in place over 10 years.

I wish newly designed (and renovated) casinos would take a clue.
Instead, the typical arrangement is similar to that at Borgata, where
only a portion of an area is reserved as non-smoking and it's often
very difficult to get away from smoke (especially from passing foot
traffic). At least we're spared from careless players who think the
universe is one large ashtray and have no idea what those odd little
black circular cups are for.
