LVA Question of the Day - 7 OCT 2006

Q: Sometimes at the end of your answers are historical
pictures, like those of Las Vegas and Liberace that were
featured in recent Questions of the Day. My question is,
where can a person buy pictures of the past like the ones
you've shown of billboards, casinos, and past entertainers,
for example?

About 10 years ago I was looking to purchase a copy of the photograph of Fremont Street with the atomic bomb mushroom cloud over the casinos. I was directed to the UNLV library which has a special section for LV and Nevada photographs. My visit there was informative and entertaining. The photos are indexed and cataloged for easy search and I found the picture I wanted. I ordered an enlarged copy which was available for pick up a few days latter.
