LVA Question of the Day - 7 JAN 2008

Q: I remember the restaurant Dive by Spielberg on the Strip in
front of the shopping mall. Do you have any further info on the
joint, like photos and what was inside the place? Thanks!

Aw, man, I remember Dive! Ate a couple times at the Century City
restaurant -- they had the best creme brulee' I'd ever eaten. It was
cheesy and fun.

I was working in Century City when the first Dive! opened.
My coworkers and I only ate there once (for lunch).

They would not seat our party until every single one of us
was present - which was annoying because we only had
a limited amount of time for our lunch hour. The food was
really lousy. In fact, it sucked. None of us liked what we
ordered. And, for such awful food, the prices were just
way too high.

Yes, the atmosphere was a lot of fun. (I happen to be
a big Disneyland fan and Dive! was certainly very
Disneyeque.) But, theming is not enough. You have to
have good food in order to compete with the other
restaurants.

It's not surprising that they went out of business.

I'm not a huge desert fan but the chef sent out creme brulee' at N9NE
last night and I have to say it was excellent.
