LVA Question of the Day - 5 NOV 2006

Q: On the May 25, 2006 "Be in Action Radio Show" Jean Scott
talks about losing $40,000 playing video poker but after
including bounce-back cash of $80,000 had a $40,000 gain for
the year. What is bounce-back cash, how is it calculated,
and how is it distributed?

Jean, I love ya, but you're making the whole thing sound way to easy
to the casino execs. No wonder I've suffered the big drop in my
casino's bounceback (traditional and trip-deferred cb) this summer!

I just made some revisions to the question and the answer, but that probably won't make everyone happier. Actually someone else wrote this and I wasn't around to go over it before it was put up to change anything major. I don't usually get this specific. I will try to see that this won't happen again.

However, I think perhaps there aren't as many casino executives reading a lot of online stuff as we sometimes think. Most are much too busy for small-potato sites like ours. Advantage players (and even wannabes) are such a tiny group when you compare to the whole category of casino gamblers. Some of us who have gambling and gambling sites at the center of their life forget how small a number we really are and how few people care what we do!!

Jean, I hope you know I was just having a little fun (at your expense

Actually, I'm just a little jealous because I've never been in a
position to suggest to others "it's so easy"! (Relax, I have no
illusions about the blood, sweat and tears that have been a component
of your success.)

On the whole, I'm sure you're right. However, I have faith in the
basics of human nature. Everyone detests the thought that someone
might, from time to time, be taking advantage of them in some manner
right under their nose. I expect most every slot exec has a small
cauldron of insecurity burning inside, fueled bright by the occasional
boastful player who tells others how he just took their casino for a ride.

It's the nature of the beast, Jean -- nothing will change the physics
of our particular universe in which players are constantly subject to
the vagaries and whims of the casino execs. The brightest who steer a
steady ship, truly understanding how to milk a no-lose situation, are
few and far between.
