LVA Question of the Day - 30 AUG 2009

Q: I know the Harrah's resorts have stopped selling the Las Vegas
newspaper and I would like to know if the Harrah's resorts plan
to start re-selling this newspaper. I enjoy reading this paper
when I come to town.

Contrary to Harrahs spokesman's excuse for not selling the LV Review Journal, I believe the real reason is because they do not want their visitors to see ads for other LV casinos. Last time we stayed at the Rio, we were forced to hop in our car and drive around town looking for a local paper. This huge inconvenience created a pair of super cranky hotel guests who took their gambling dollars elsewhere.
Note...Harrahs Reno giftshop offers a free daily newspaper (including the LVRJ) to all Diamond members.

Wasn't there the issue of the LVRJ breaking the story about HET and the building code violations? After they did
a series of stories on this aspect (something about the Fire Doors at Flamingo and/or Harrahs and robbing parts from
one to make the other look good when inspectors were around. . . as told by a HET whistle-blower maintenance man)
HET "vowed" to never sell the R-J at their properties after this. . . . . Jean H
