LVA Question of the Day - 28 JUL 2008 - Possible Dupe

Q: was recently at a casino restaurant and eating at a
breakfast buffet and wanted to know what happens to the
leftover food from the buffet, not just breakfast but any
buffet. Is the casino allowed to give it to the needy or is
the left over food thrown away?

Since people have been talking about how awful Harrah's has gotten, I thought I would describe our trip this last weekend to Caesar's.
They comped our two nights, a suite in the Augustus tower and gave $200.00 cash as well. We are not "high rollers", I figure it's a slower time for them and they're trying to get players in.
The video poker was okay - 9/6 JB in the high limit room at $5, $10 or $25.
I managed to get a Royal tripled on the STP game, which of course was fun.

I noticed the same thing out of MGM recently. With my play at their
casinos they never even used to bat an eye... an offer for a
discounted basic room was good. Now all of the sudden offers for
comped nights and freeplay are coming in left and right. My last few
trips Vegas was noticeably slower, so Im guessing the rooms were going
to go empty anyway and they are banking on me playing more if I stay
with them.

We recently stayed at CP in Las Vegas and were treated very well. As
a Diamond player we received a suite in the Forum Tower for 3 nights
with all food and beverage included. This was an invited stay despite
the fact that we had a large win on our previous stay in April of
2007. The noted change in policy regarding host discretion would
have happened just after our stay and I have not confirmed it. In
the meantime, Harrahs New Orleans has invited us for another stay
which includes 3 nights RFB to qualify for a 7 day Caribbean Cruise.
They obviously want to drive traffic to their location and probably
are not under the same restrictions as LAS.

We were Platinum, but now we're only Gold as we haven't gone to any Harrah's properties in a very long time. I don't know what the room would usually cost.

In your first post you wrote "suite in Augustus Tower". Did you
actually have a suite or just one of the regular Augustus Tower rooms?

Did you play $5, $10, $25 9/6 JOB as your primary game while staying

can you translate that into approximate bet per hand?

You're correct - it wasn't a suite - I don't know if it was a regular Augustus Tower room or not. It had two levels and a desk area as well as a couch, etc.
I played some $5 but mostly $1 while there. (That's why I'm only Gold, lol).

I can't tell you average bet per hand -- I don't play table games. 7
Stars is 100,000 tier points from January 1 to Dec 31. It's $5 coin in
per point on slots and $10 coin in per point on video poker ($500,000
coin in on slots, $1 million coin in on video poker).

Hi Valerie,

I haven't read the rest of the thread, only your first post (kind of in
a hurry tonight) so if someone else has said this, or if what I'm
saying is dumb, just ignore me, OK? Also, take this in a light way,
I'm rarely very serious

What I'm wondering is how do these two parts of what you wrote fit
together:

"We are not "high rollers"..."

And a little later:

"The video poker was okay - 9/6 JB in the high limit room at $5, $10 or
$25."

Maybe you're just reporting that they "have" 9/6 JOB at $5+ -- not that
you actually played it right? I mean, if you played that machine more
than on a lark then you are a high roller aren't you?

Just a dumb question from an old country boy (also not a "high roller"
who just dropped $1400 in 4 days playing 50 cent 9/6 JOB Progressive
(RF was almost $4,000 -- SF was over $250 several times) If that was a
$5 machine I'd have been into it for $14,000, and I'd consider that
a "high roller" play

Hi Mac,

I don't know if you saw the post where I said that I played a little bit of $5 but mostly $1 - so that should answer your question! Not a high roller here.....But everyone has their place where they feel comfortable playing and that's what it's all about.

Hi Valerie,

Nope, didn't see that until now. I just posted because I got a
chuckle from seeing $5 VP and "not a high roller" in the same
paragraph

I've played a $5 machine once or twice myself. Usually briefly, with
about $300, after hitting a RF on a dollar machine (which I also
don't play all the time). My goal playing $5 is to hit a 4oak and
hit the cash out button
