LVA Question of the Day - 27 DEC 2007

Q: On our last trip to Las Vegas (October), we took a day trip
out to Valley of Fire. Wow. We've been coming to Vegas for two
decades and never realized what a beautiful park was so close.
Though all the rock formations are spectacular, we were most
taken with the petroglyphs. Can you shed some light on their
origins and significance?

Anyone who has spent time in southern Utah will be very disappointed
with Valley of Fire. It just pales in comparison. For someone making
their first trip to the area, it would be worth a trip, however
calling it "spectacular" is hyperbole IMO.
