LVA Question of the Day - 26 JUL 2007

Absolutely. I have tipped $5 before, but that was more like a bribe because
I wanted to get going and the valets were quite busy.

Their answer states that $5 is the 'norm.' I don't ever tip that much.
I'm
a $2 tipper except for unusual service. Anyone else want to chime in here?

Humm....did you get that $5 tip recommendation from a valet parker. Most people I am talking to, on the forums and personally, think $5 is not "average" and don't tip that much except for exceptional service. Brad and I almost never use valet parking because it is time-consuming - too much wait time - plus we like the exercise we get from walking from the garage. I would have to have two broken legs and the valet has to carry me into the casino to tip $5.

since i can only make it to LV around twice a year from the central
valley CA, i don't mind tipping $5 for valet. i know that LV is a
service type of town. most valet attendents seem to be young people and
for the most part very polite and friendly. even though i'm in my
fifties, i get plenty of exercise and don't need more when i'm on
vacation.

I agree. $5 is too much! A buck or two, depending. $10 has gotten me
an up front spot at LVH when lot was full during fall gaming show at
convention center. They kept the keys right on a board and my car
stayed there for a few hours, waiting and ready when I wanted to
leave. Of course, LVH has the easiest self park at sports book if
nothing is going on at convention center or during football season.

Self park is most always way faster than valet. However, for someone
who doesn't know their way around a particular casino, valet is a
good choice. Mirage or Caesars is an example. Ya gotta know how to
find parking. Orleans, Rio or others that have parking laid out
like that, self park is best bet for all. One exception; when
checking into a hotel valet is best. You don't want to worry about
car and check in too.
