LVA Question of the Day - 20 DEC 2009

Q: I read the QoD every day ... you folks do a terrific job. I was
wondering how many casinos exist in the United States. I remember
the old days when one had to go to Nevada to visit a casino.
Today, casinos seem to be almost everywhere. Could you list the
number of casinos by state and the number in each state that are
owned by Native American tribes?

I believe Maine has only one casino-not three as reported in QoD.. It is
located in Bangor, has no table games, and real low pay V.P. It is called
Hollywood Slots" and looks like it was designed by the folks who designed
Cannery East. The casino is friendly clean and well lit. It contributes
about 12 and a half million dollars per year in fees and taxes to multiple
state and town agencies. RMcK.
