Q: We have just booked a trip to Vegas for New Year's Eve
(arriving on the 26th of December and staying for 7 nights).
Can you please advise us of what goes on in Vegas for New
Year's Eve and what we can expect!
............................

Early on New Years Eve all the motors cops [don't ask how much they are
making in overtime, it'll make you sick] on Metro line up their bikes on several
road blocked streets crossing the Strip to let tourists sit on them while
they take the pics using the tourists cameras.*

As it gets closer to midnight motors cops, mounted cops, and bicycle cops
huddle together in little groups for protection.*

Downtown, Metro SWAT surrounds the Fremont Street Experience to keep gangs
from North Town from entering thus the ensuing brawl under the canopy lasts a
shorter time.

Also, Metro leases about ten school busses and renames them with magnetic
signs as police paddy wagons.*

So what's everybody else doing for NYE? It's my first one here in town and
I'm trying to find a decent alternative that doesn't cost $500 for me and my
fiancée to get in. Bonus points for any kind of 80s/new wave/britpop
entertainment.

Any suggestions?
