This has since been corrected on the LVA website.

Babe reminds me of a story: I am from New Mexico and not so many years
ago there were some good promos for cashing govt checks at LV casinos,
so I brought my NM state income tax refund check with me on a trip.
The cageling in a casino I'm too polite to name told me that they
didn't cash foreign checks for "pesos." That prompted a lesson in
geography from me.

I have great sympathy. As someone who grew up in Iowa, I've had to
explain more times than I can count that it is not the place where
they grow the patatoes.

Drew,

I can go one better. I lived in Atlanta before the Olympics.

One day the lead news story was about a woman who called to request
ticket information. When she told the operator she lived in New
Mexico she was told that she had to go through her country's embassy
to get ticket applications.
