LVA Question of the Day - 15 AUG 2008

Q: I have noticed recently that you are reporting information,
with a drop-down heading, for Gay and Lesbians. Are there that
many in our society that this has to be listed too?

Although neither Gay nor Lesbian, I gotta say that I applaud the Las
Vegas Advisor's response to this question. It was comprehensive,
succinct and conveyed in a concise mannter that this question was,
if not "out of line", certainly ludicrous. Bravo LVA!

I disagree. Any question that's ludicrous should never appear in the QoD. The LVA embarrassed itself with a one-word answer.

If the point was to convey that gays and lesbians form a significant proportion of society, or Vegas visitors, then a good answer would include some statistics (say 12 percent of the populace is gay and 25 percent of Vegas visitors, numbers I'm just making up).

Huntington Press even published a book "Gay Vegas" so why not solicit a response from that author about what measures, if any, casinos and hotels have taken to attract and cater to that group. I expect a lot more from QoD responses and the LVA blew this opportunity to provide real information.?
