Q: We heard a rumor that the Brewpub at the
Monte Carlo is closing. Any truth to it?

*****
Once upon a time, not too long ago the Monte Carlo, its brewery and tasting
room (Brew Pub) were under the umbrella of the Mandalay Resort Group, which
used the "One Club" card. There were ten properties tied together...Vegas,
Laughlin, Reno and even Tunica.

My one and only visit to the Monte Carlo, and its brewpub happened just about
this time (August, 2004) four years ago. I got a comp slip from the slot
club desk. I was burning up comps from my Laughlin play (CB/EW). I don't
remember if they had bartops or not. This also was the same day I did the new
mono-rail from the Sahara, and got off at MGM-Grand and wandered (got lost looking
for the front door) over to the Monte Carlo.

I just bring this up as a reference point. So much has changed. Harrahs
Entertainment gobbled-up Park Place Enteretainment. MGM-Mirage incorporated
Mandalay Resort Group. Harrahs operated the Flamingo in Laughlin for awhile, then
sold it off to Carl Ichan and his American Casino Entertainment group. Carl
sold ACE with its four casinos to Whitehall. MGM-Mirage sold off CB/EW to
Marnell-Sher. Marnell-Sher it building the "M" way the heck out on the south
Strip.

Back to beer. The Boiler Room in the Colorado Belle is supposed to be
outsourced. They have been making beer in there for 18 years. The last few have
been better batches under the guise of Marshall from Santa Fe. The rumor is
Rock Bottom Brewery is taking over the room. But this means the removal of the
bartop VP.

Things sure change in a hurry, so don't get too comfortable. I do believe I
tried the Monte Carlo Stout to go with my Mushroom Swiss Cheeseburger.
