LVA QoD - 25 APR 2008 - "Secret Shoppers"

Don't you also have to be licensed as a
private detective to do this in Nevada or
at least Las Vegas? I thot someone told
me this once. . . . . .

This is not a "scam", Mark. Casinos contract with organizations which
provide skilled workers for the purpose of staying in the Casino's
rooms and suites, and eating in their restaurants etc. After they
have sampled the type of service that paying customers are receiving,
he "secret shoppers" write long reports pin-pointing service problems
and identifying employees who are not performing their duties in an
acceptable manner.

I have two good friends who do this interesting work. They are both
very bright and upstanding solid citizens.

I don't know the actual details, but I have seen ads that say "secret shoppers" have to be "licensed." I'm not sure whether that is in NV or just LV.

To be a "secret shopper" in Nevada you need a Sheriff's Work Card from
the county where you'll be "shopping". You work under the pvt.
investigator license held by the shopper company.

I've done work at a couple megaresorts on the Strip in LV as well as
numerous other properties across the US and Caribbean.

In NV, the company that you contract with has to be licensed but the
individuals themselves don't have to go through the hassle of getting a
sherrif's card.

Personally I prefer working in the 4 and 5* hotels without a casino.
Nothing like having all expenses paid, plus a per diem, while getting a
massage on a Hawaiian beach.
