Yes, I think Reno has better VP and if you can take advantage of bounceback offers you can get the equivalent of cashback. I just got back from Reno where I collected freeplay from Peppermill (this was a first and I'm not sure what generated the offer as I have not played there much recently), cash from Silver Legacy, and Eldorado. I could have collected cash (or free play) at Harrahs Reno, Harrahs Tahoe, and Horizon but I did not have enough time plus a Tahoe trip would have required renting a car. There is a great variety of full pay VP in all denominations in Reno. The entertainment is getting better and the rooms at the 3 places mentioned above are better than average. Linda Seidl used to be a host at Reno Hilton and is now at Eldorado. She's the director of player acquisition (or something like that) but she is great to work with and would be glad to help anyone arrange a stay. Her toll free direct line is 800-281-0524.

Besides the VP, Reno has some fringe benefits over Vegas:
Almost all the casinos have free AP shuttles.
If you want to move around, it is much easier to do so without a car
in Reno since almost all casinos of interest are either on Virginia
St. or within one block.
If you would like a little diversion/exercise, there are actual nice
places to take a short walk, such as the Truckee River walk, and that
nice park with lake behind the Peppermill.
Summers are much more pleasant and it cools down after dark. (Of
course, the down side is that winters are colder than Vegas.)

Reno is a lot more low key than Las Vegas. If you like calmer and
quieter casinos, Reno might be for you. Also it is a lot easier to
get around in Reno than Vegas especially compared to the strip.
Also beautiful Lake Tahoe is only an hour from Reno. The people in
Reno are also very friendly. I think they are desperate for your
business.

Laughlin is a nice diversion from Vegas also. It's only 90 miles
from Vegas right on the southern tip of Nevada where Cal, Nev,
and Arizona come together. Very laid back and friendly there too,
and not cold in the winter.

True. Laughlin is very nice(from Oct to Apr) but you need a car
unless you live somewhere with flights to Bullhead City. That's what
keeps me from going there.
