LV visit recommendations

Newbie here with a few questions, many of which I suspect have been
posted before. First let me tip my hat to all of you who play this
game at any consistent level of competency. In my innocence (hubris?)
I had decided to take up the VP for my next trip to LV in July
assuming this would be an easy game to master. On previous visits
(approx once every other year) I had played craps (low stakes-pass
line and 2 come bets with odds) and figured if I can play that game
with some degree of accuracy then VP should be no problem. I had
played 9/6 JOB at Arizona Charlies Decatur when tired or tapped out
at craps, not realizing at the time how much I was giving away to the
house. Deciding to learn more about the game I purchased "Video Poker
Optimum Play" by Dan Paymar and Winpoker 6.0 to practice at home
(excellent resources BTW). After 3 weeks of practicing JOB and Deuces
Wild I am amazed at how difficult these games are to play error free
or even without making what I would call occasional "bonehead"
mistakes (missing 3 to SF for instance). So with that, I have gained
a new respect for the game and for those who play it well.
That brings me to my question. Giving the difficulty I have
encountered and the infrequency of my visits how best should I spend
my time practicing between now and my expected visit? I have lurked
here for several weeks and am aware of the links to casinos and the
games they offer, what I am looking for is guidance from those who
frequently play in LV area. I will be staying at the RIO (I know, I
know – don't even bother trying to find decent VP at the RIO) and
will have a car at my disposal. So the question is if I am willing to
travel to find worthwhile VP in the LV area where do you suggest I
go? I have looked through the links and understand where to find
which games, my question is more like where will I be able to walk
into a given casino and find a playable game readily available, which
game or games is it likely to be (preferably Deuces Wild or 9/6 JOB
which I have spent time on), and if all of the better games are
frequently taken up what time of day would I be more likely to
succeed in finding an open machine?
Finally, I would like to say that this board has been an excellent
primer for anyone interested in the game and all of its aspects.
See you LV I hope!

Pick the games you plan on playing and practice, practice,
practice until you master them.

It has been my experience that you can find a seat in most
games immediately or in short order, unless a progressive
is pretty high. As a general rule, availability is probably better
between midnight and noon than between noon and midnight.

Good luck on your trip.
