Departed Lexington Ky at 7:15 AM on Tuesday morning 9/7 for our connection
via Atlanta to Las Vegas. Flights were all good. Arrived LV at 11:15 AM,
picked up rental car from Payless and drove over to the M Resort. Got lunch
at the Vig Deli (I got the Philly Cheese Steak the last time and it was
great) a turkey/cheese sandwich and I couldn't find the meat. So went to find a
decent pay table, found some good BP and DDB. Was up about $30 on the BP
when it locked up. Waited for slot service personnel for about 20 minutes,
asked a waitress to get someone, waited another 12 minutes, the guy at the
next machine said "this is ridiculous to wait this long" he pushed his
service button too to try to get noticed. Finally I used my cell phone to call
them. Another 10 minutes and someone finally came. He printed a ticket and
put a not in service message on the machine. Played 100 play DDB and hit 2
royals on the 2 cent game. My husband was ready to go so I picked up the
free gift (wine cooler bag) and we headed to Planet Hollywood. I was Diamond
until the end of March (for the last 5 years) not am Platinum. When I had
called to book at Caesars (where I always stay) I was told all the slot
tournament rooms at Caesars were gone and I was offered any of the other
properties. Decided on PH as I had never been there and they said I would get a
nice room with a view of the Bellagio fountains. Checked in, no wait in line
marked for 7 Star, Diamond & Platinum. So far, so good. The room was
smaller than we are used to but it did have the promised view and overall was
okay. Actually the beds and pillows were great. My hubby was feeling a little
bad so he decided to take a nap and I walked up to Caesars to sign in for
the slot tournament. Sign-up was in the Palace Tower, Emperors Room. I
signed up, got my play times and the free gift ($50 free play). Stopped at
Payard's on the way out to get a quiche (their quiche is so good) and I also
bought a Berry crepe (delicious). Ate the quiche and part of the crepe sitting
outside in the Palace Tower at one of the tables. Took the rest of the
crepe back to my husband. Went to the casino at PH and promptly lost about
$150. Decided to play a STP (which I always enjoy it even though it is not
playable according to pay tables. I played for about 4 hours on $50. Exhausted
from the early flight so went up to bed.
Wednesday 9/8 - Hubby walked to McDonald's and got sausage/biscuits & OJ.
I had a couple of bites then dashed out for the Mandara spa. Hoping it would
be as good as Qua Spa. First went to the steam room, which had way too
much light and not enough steam. Tried the whirlpool, it was pretty good, then
showered and went for a pedicure. One of the best pedicures I have ever
gotten and the personnel in the spa were great. Then got a wash/blow dry.
Pretty good job and the lady was very friendly and nice.
Went back to our room to get my husband and we walked to Caesars and played
for about an hour until it was time for me to play in the tournament. My
score was 9055. It wasn't wonderful but it wasn't the worst either so I
guess I was happy with my score. Hoping the next session would be better. They
had some snacks ( chocolate cake, veggies & dip and pretzels & cheese
sauce). I didn't want any of it so we went to the food court and got one
cheeseburger/fries, 2 cokes and a fruit platter which we shared. The fruit was so
good. Then we both gambled at Caesars for about 4 hours. We then walked
over to Aria, checked out the casino which was small ( I did like the decor
around the poker room), Mandarin Oriental, went through 2 art gallaries then
took their tram to Bellagio. Went to see how the Conservatory was
decorated. It was okay, nothing special this trip. Went back to PH, changed clothes
and relaxed a bit before leaving to go to dinner at Rosemary's Restaurant
on West Sahara. This is one of my favorite restaurants. If you haven't tried
it, you should. The service and the food is fantastic. Another great
dinner and Wed. nights is 50% off for ladies food purchases plus Delta just
added them on their idine program. Afterwards we drove downtown and parked at
the lot at Main Street Station. I wanted to see the fremont Experience
"Tribute to Queen". Stopped at Main Street Station for our refund of the parking
fee. Saw the new "Sex in the City" slot machines and "The Great Race" slot
machines. Decided to play "The Great Race" as it is one of my fav shows on
TV. I put $20 in and hit the spin button. It took over and went on & on. I
have no idea what all it did but at the end I cashed out $42.30. We walked
to Fremont Street and the "Queen" exhibit was just starting. I must say I
really enjoyed it. The music and the video was very good. My husband
decided to use the LVA $10 free slot play at 4 Queens. He signed up for a card
and he started playing. I put his extra card in a machine that you can win
silver coins worth different amounts. I hit and got a $10 coin which I turned
in for the $10. My hubby also got another $10 free slot play for signing
up for the card plus a deck of cards and a tote bag. We walked thru Fremont
and Binions then decided to go back to our room for some sleep.
Thursday 9/9 - Slept a little later this morning, then showered and
dressed, walked to Caesars, played for about 1.5 hrs then went up to play the
last session of the slot tournament. I did poorly ( as usual) and only
scored about 7200 points. Went over to the Burger place that is located between
Bally's & Paris to use the BOGO burger. The buirgers were excellent. Walked
back to PH to get the car and drove back to the M Resort. Played various
vp machines resulting in a loss of about $50. Picked up another of the free
gifts which was a wine accessories kit, pretty nice. Went back to PH,
parked the car and walked to Imperial Palace to go to the Human Nature show. It
was very good. They really had the place rocking. Afterwards we stopped at
the Let It Ride table ($5 minimum) and had a great time. The table was
friendly and the entertainment was also lively and enjoyable. I was up
immediately by over $120. We played for several hours and each of us lost about
$100. Went back to PH and to sleep.
Friday 9/10 - Checked out of PH this morning after picking up a voucher
at TR for 2 free buffets at Spice Market with the LVA coupon and having
earned over 200 points at their casino. After leaving PH we drove to South
Point and played several hours there, both of us lost again. Went to the
Premium Outlet Stores to use a $10 coupon at Jockey and to pick up some shirts at
Polo for my son. Also checked out the luggage stores but couldn't find any
deals on luggage so we will wait. Drove out to Sun Coast and checked in.
My husband had a comped room there for 2 nights as we were leaving on Sunday
morning. Gambled at Sun Coast for several hours (I played a 25 cent Bonus
Dueces Wild Progressive that was over $2K for about 3 hours), pretty much
even for the day. Ate at their buffet (comped) and their bread pudding was
just wonderful. Played some more after dinner then up to bed.
Saturday 9/11 - I got up early and went to the Bingo room to get all my
extra packs for their $100,000 Bingo Bash. I bought an additional $350 in
games on top of the initial $100 to reserve my place. The warm-up games
started at 10:30 AM. I got a box lunch that came with my entry. I played Bingo
until a little after 4 PM. My husband spent the day watching sports
(football) and gambling. He was up $180. On one bingo game for $10,000, I needed N
33 or N 36 to win, they called N 35. Then on another game for $25,000, I
needed O-70 for the win for 3 calls, someone else won it, they had a second
chance on the coverall for $5,000. I thought for sure I would get that, but
after 4 calls and no O-70, someone else won. Oh well, at least it was
exciting. After Bingo I went to the pool for a swim and to relax in the desert
sun. Later on we went back down to the strip to eat at the Spice Market
buffet. They had a very long line and was not letting anyone else go down except
for 7 Star, Diamond and Platinum. We got to go down and we were seated
immediately. I wondered how 7 Star players liked sharing their line with lowly
Platinum players. I think it would upset me if were a 7 Star player. I
wondered the same even when I was Diamond with about 25k points but I am not
going to turn it down if it is offered. We were put in VIP seating and given
a 2 ounce "special appetizer" of filet mignon. The dinner was good, then
we went over to Caesars as I had won $200 of Reel Rewards on the slot
tournament. We played those and another few hundred then went back to Sun Coast.
Played a little more there, went up and repacked for our early morning
flight back to Kentucky. Overall lost our money, but we had a very fun trip.
